I have two C300. Anandtech mentions that a new firmware should be available soon, but to date, it's still the 0002 firmware. However, seems that the update tool is new. Not sure if the old update tool is the one that bricked some C300s, or this is the one that bricked some C300s. Will update my C300s firmware once my new rig is up.

Thank you for the update.
On a saver bet, better to get an OCZ Vertex 2 or the Intel SSD.

Hi experts,

What brands/models of SSD has garbage collection? I only know OCZ Vertex 2? Is it true? I intend to buy for my apple mac, cos no TRIM command in OSX.

Thank you very much!

Thank you for the update.
On a saver bet, better to get an OCZ Vertex 2 or the Intel SSD.

I have the two OCZ Vertex 250GB in RAID0 in my current desktop rig, an Intel G1 80GB in my laptop, and and Intel G2 160GB in my tablet PC. The reason I want to try the C300 (in RAID0) on my new build is because of the SATA6. I remember flashing my Intel G1 and Vertex SSDs with newer firmware, so the risk of bricking them is still there.

There hasn't been any update on Anandtech site regarding the C300. Probably this means that the 0002 firmware works fine (other than it erases the data) with the new update tool.

I'm looking to try out more SSDs using my wife's rig. But I need to upgrade her OS from Vista to Win7 first.

The problem has been fixed?

Looks like it.

The SSD Diaries: Crucial's RealSSD C300
The promise was high. Crucial was to not only offer better than X25-M performance but also be the first to deliver a 6Gbps SSD. Competing controller makers wouldn't hit 6Gbps until Q3/Q4 at the earliest. Two things stood in Crucial's way: 1) a little company called SandForce and, 2) a pesky set of firmware issues.

With the latter taken care of, and the former dropping prices to be more aggressive in the market, it's about time that we gave Crucial's C300 SSD a good look.

I think you'll need a U.S. credit card. I couldn't get my order processed using vpost and a local credit card.

Now trying out borderlinx's concierge service.

Hi gadgets, thx, i m sure there are many like me who would like to know if u can get the order processed through borderlinx?:)

Corsair extends Force Series SSDs with 40GB, 80GB and 160GB models
Corsair's F60, F120, and F240 Force Series SSDs have already proven to be strong performers, but if the current capacities aren't exactly what you're looking for, you'll soon be able to enjoy the SandForce-based performance in 40GB, 80GB, and 160GB models.

The trio of new additions, dubbed the F40, F80 and F160, will be shipping next month with suggested pricing at $129.99, $229.99 and $449.99, respectively.

There's no sight of UK pricing as yet, but positioning the 40GB F40 at under the £90 mark would certainly be competitive.

According to Corsair's internal benchmarks, the entry-level 40GB drive scores read and write speeds of 282.6MB/s and 270.1MB/s, respectively. That's just a fraction slower than the reported 285.6MB/s and 275.9MB/s speeds of the 160GB F160.....

Same here ... I need sth reasonable from 80GB onward and <$500. According to Anandtech and others, the Intel may be 'slow' in write performance from synthetic tests but in real-world tasks it's outperform the Sandforce. From forum threads I hv read ... the X25-M is still highly recommended and in fact the Vertex is favoured too as the price has gone down.

I will probably look at the Vertex and X25-M now and my next move up will be the time 6.0Gb/s is the norm.
