I hope my Corsair F60 is a good drive...
if not the USD199.99 80GB X25M may have been better...

Manufacturer boosts on their sequential read/write which is NOT critical in SSD. They compromise on the random write which is the most common task performed on a harddisk by OS.

Most are technically fooled and buy SSD based on the fastest sequential read. They usually suffer the momentarily hang of the system after prolong use.

i know the random is low, but it shouldn't be that low. I searched a lot of review sites and forums and mostly they can get 17MB/s on 4k write in cdm

with TRIM and manual TRIM, where got hanging after prolonged use?

You think TRIM is superman in SSD?

If you delete files, TRIM helps. If you overwrite files, TRIM does not help at all. TRIM helps in write performance but if your writing speed is slow, you will notice the hanging effect.

Perhaps it is factory defect or reject.

My recent test on the low end Intel V 40GB shows superior performance.

OS requires MORE so on random read/write for small files and LESS on sequential read. Manufacturers tweak on sequential read and sell only this feature and compromise greatly on random read/write. We want low latency and not fast bandwidth for OS in SSD. Don't be fooled by the FAST sequential read/write.
