How does Kingston SSDNow V Series SNV425-S2BD/64GB fare against OCZ Onyx Series OCZSSD2-1ONX64G 2.5" 64GB?

From reviews, it seem that the Kingston has better benchmark results than the OCZ Onyx series.

Thinking of getting one from newegg.

Newegg - Kingston
Newegg - OCZ Onyx

Should wait for Onyx 2. Got Sandforce and larger capacity at around the same price.

haha.. no la i dont really spent so much on PC one.. but SSD has its advantages .. too good to ignore and SGD300ish is worth it for the speed, reliability ... reliability is important as I hate installing new OS

just finish installing WIn7 home... maybe its SSD, took ard 25 mins to get all installed.

my PC not fast.. 2gb ram with Ahtlon x2 2.4 only.. a 2 yrs old PC already ... will get 2 more gb RAM later this week to make use of the 64 bit OS

Now my boot up time is 35 sec with Avast anti virus installed (suppose to take longest to boot) .. so its all GOOD and SWEET !

I got 97GB left after installing OS , antivirus and some key drivers... so plenty of room left of Office, video/photo editing software :D

Actually why reliability? You do know this drive will degrade over time even for normal usage? mine after 3 months already slowing down on the write side, significantly.

You will need to secure erase the whole drive and reinstall the OS again to restore the speed. OR if you make a copy of your clean install OS now, you can restore the image but no matter you will need to secure erase the drive to restore performance.

EVEN with TRIM. Best is over provisioning, you may consider that since 120GB is quite big.

How good is vertex 2 actually? I was about to replace it with my Intel G2 80gb but decided not to.

Seems like there are quite a number of cases of DOA, faulty within a few months and performance degrade even with TIRM.

As a boot drive, reliability is extremely important for me. That's why I got Intel in the first place.

when i mention reliability .. its more like less failure rate then a HDD .. usual HDD also will degrade over time but at least with SSD it does not dies off completely as easily.

On top of that, the speed.. no more "crak crak crak" sound and the intense loading rate when all the startup programs loads at the same time.

its really fun using it now with everything start up so much faster..

I am not a hardcore user.. so I go read some review.. most resulted that vertex2 is faster then intel but like many ppl say you might not really feel it as its like 3 or 5 sec faster in various test... in some test intel is also faster..

I think either one will be fine... also i read that the vertex dont seem to hv much problem with Win7 and installation problem been low..

Mine installed within 25 mins.. no problem and its fast since everytime it reboots.. it takes like 20 sec only
