(Storage) SSD Discussion Thread

Hi Bro/Sis,

I'm noob here. I own a 3 years laptop with specs as follow:
- T9400 processor
- 4 Gb Ram
- 250 Gb SATA hdd
- Nvidia NVS150 M Graphic card

My hdd looks like gonna die, there is clicking sound when I'm using this laptop (I also have warning from my SMART).
Since I gonna change the hdd. Do you think it is worth to change to ssd ?
What I expect is faster booting time and more responsive when I open the software and browsing.
Which ssd you recomend (buy through local retailer) to me ? I believe that SATA 3 connector is not supported by my laptop. I am looking for 120 Gb capacity.

Since it's for Laptop (1 HDD bay), maybe you can consider Seagate XT hybrid drive.. It's a HDD with 4GB SSD. Desktop users would consider 1 SSD for OS/Programs and 1 HDD for storage.

The HDD part offer affordable storage while the SSD part speeds things up a bit.. If you want robustness.. then a full SSD would be more robust.

Hi bro,

I don't mind to have small storage. Because I used to bring external hdd around for my data. I also not install any game or software with huge data.
Is the cheapest around is intel ssd?

The cheapest shd be a 40GB drive.. maybe intel or kingston.. not very sure..

Shd be ard ~$140 or less.

gt better speeds with uncompressed data.. speed wise its about the same
