Strange pc startup

Hi all, recently my PC failed to startup properly.

I can see and hear the fans, SSD lights, gfx card fan and etc.... are switched on and running.

However, my monitor is blank and it briefly shows a message "system is not connected to device".

I've also re seated my GFX card/Ram and made sure they are attached properly.

My pc is about 4-5 years old.

Strange thing is that when i lay my desktop pc horizontally, it can boot up and function as per normal.

Does anyone know what is the issue and how to rectify it?

It looks like a contact issue. I would suggest you remove the GPU and RAM and clean the gold connectors.

I've done it for my rams but not the GPU yet. Thanks!

Look like your motherboard PCIE slot connector is weaken, causing contact issue in vertical position.

High chance it’s the PCIe slot. What GPU are you using? If it’s a big one it maybe sagging and causing the contact to bend a little.

If your system has an in built GPU then take out the dedicated GPU and see if it works upright. If it does then that rules out RAM and your problem is with the PCIe card or slot.
