Strange problem

Hi guys! Encountered a strange problem and need you guys to advise me..

bought a 2nd hand pc for friend and in the midst of setting up the pc for him... i realise that my own DVI monitor will lose signal upon entering windows for the pc. and my monitor receives signal during the boot screen.

Tried using a VGA monitor and surprisingly was able to use thruout and into windows.

Can anyone advise me as to what the problems are? Why is it that my own perfectly fine DVI monitor will lose signal on his rig while its working totally fine on mine. Take note that the signal losses only happens upon entering windows.

I have already installed the latest amd graphic drivers already.

Check the refresh rate is at 60Hz and correct resolution.

Can go in safe mode. Cannot go in windows normally. How do I change refresh rate and resolution if I cant get in?

In your first post, you said using VGA still can work. So, VGA and do the setting to lowest resolution and see if DVI can see anything.

Using the same monitor, try going into safe mode.

If it works in safe mode, uninstall the Graphics driver and reboot into normal mode. From there install the graphic drivers(fresh download again) and try again.


Have you tried your VGA monitor AFTER you tried the DVI?

I found the problem already. Took me damn long. Turns out i think the wire siao siao. This monitor i took to my brother's PC and plug in and it work. but come back it doesnt work.

Only able to display during bios and once windows start it receives no such signal. I took the DVI wire from the monitor side and plug into my pc and the pc side plug into my monitor. then it work. waste so many hours of my life.. na bei

btw.. my friend feel like trying out SSD for this rig. the mobo ga-h55-s2h will be bottlenecked by which type of ssd?

Ermm...... This is based on my knowledge and may not be accurate.

But I recommend getting SSD on a newer motherboard for optimal performance and stability.

If you really need to use or already bought a SSD then don't worry it's should be still ok. but you need these stuff first

1) update/flash your bios to the latest via motherboard manufacture website(provides stability)
2) Use windows 7/8
3) Plug into Sata 3(6gbps) not Sata 2(3gbps)

if you do/have these 3, I believe your SSD should function fine.

Btw having SSD only helps loading speed on software and games. Also unpacking zip/rar files and transferring/copying...etc. Basically it's just harddisk performance.

ya, very wasted in some ways. So I do recommend upgrading then get SSD.

Actually still can get ssd. You will still be able to get seq read/writes of above 250MB/s which is way faster than a HDD. The near instant response time isn't affected as well. A good ssd can last you a long time even through upgrades.

But there are too many types... dunno which is value for money

I dont find it a waste using ssd on sata2. Even on sata2 it is miles away faster than hdd. So i recommend ssd upgrade even on old motherboards.

Only synthetic benchmarks can show the difference.

Ts u shd have checked out amazon sales for ssd
