I just got my 4ropom BTO flat in Punggol.

The TP is in the utility closet near the mainbdoor, and M1 came to install the ONT and connect to the TP in the utility closet.

So that means my router and my telephone (fixed digital voice) has to be in the closet as well which doesn't make sense.

I saw that there is a LAN point in the living room TV area.

1. Any other way which I can put the wireless router at the living room area? I want my telephone to be there as well.

2. What does the LAN point in the living room area function as? I tried plugging Ethernet cable into it with my laptop but cannot connect to internet.

Sorry for all the stupid questions as I don't have any idea about home networking.

The LAN point in ur living room TV area is connected to the LAN point in the utlity closet(near the TP). You can connect as follows :
TP -> ONT -> LAN point(inside closet) leads to LAN point(living room) -> wireless router. But if u nid to connect other wired devices to ur router then u must prepared to lay cables around ur living room...

Same goes for the phone port too...there is 1 phone port in ur closet which is connected to the phone port in ur living room...so just connect the phone line from ur ONT to the phone port in ur closet and connect ur phone to the phone socket in the living room...this shld work....

I feel ur bto flat design is almost same like mine i got last year.....

Thanks Azrin. Do you happen to know how much is it to convert? I've checked and the port in bedrooms are 4 wires, only the ports at utility box and living area has 8 wires, so I reckon the ports in the room will require to be converted if I wan to use them? Lastly, there is no other way for the ont and router to be installed at the living area console other than near the utility box?

U will nid to get a longer fibre cord(yellow cable) which connect ur ONT to TP....n layout to ur living room...if u got contractor to do it for u...it will be more easy...but if ur router is at living room console area, be prepared to lay cables again if u need to connect other wired devices in the future...
