Hi All,

What is the best combo you can get from a SGD20,000 and above with SD + Insurance/Endowment product?

I'm gonna reject the premise of your question. You've just picked the two worst, highest-cost investment vehicles on the street. Don't get involved in either of them (and I say this as someone who used to be on the other side of those structured deposits - our sales guys used to rip our customers' eyes out on structured deposits. We loved you if you did them).

The safest is not these products. These products lock in the cost/losses/expenses which is hard to understand/explain for uncles and aunties. Best not to even mention these to the uncles and aunties.

The least risky products are bonds and banks savings account.

Put in fix deposit and renew every 6 months or yearly. Interest rate is n the raise. Structured deposit usually tie you down for 5 to 6 years. Disadvantage for long term.

mai hai lau lang, structured deposits are not safer, u shld not suggest if they wanna avoid risky products, single premium insurance endowment (no insurance linked products, ie ilp for them please) are safe with higher returns compared to FD, now FD interest rates are going up, can consider

They're not "safer" with these products. They'd be just as safe with Singapore Savings Bonds, or the A35 ETF.

Even structured deposits aren't "safe" - have a look at the next equity autocallable or reverse convertible that comes across your desk. Those are marketed as "safe", but you can lose 100% of your money if the stock drops.

These products are bad, and they're designed to exploit those heartland aunties and uncles who don't know any better than what they're being told by the 22-year-old saleskid in a cheap suit.
