Stuck at startup Screen MBP

i've been having my MBP for about 2 years closing 3 years i think...
yesterday when i start my my mbp, the screen go stuck at a white screen with apple logo, it doesnt move into log in screen

i have to force shut down it...happen for like 2-3 times?

any experience??


im on mavericks

could be corrupted files or spoilt HDD

boot into recovery then use disk utility to check permissions and HDD and see if it gets better

else use apple hardware test to check the rest of the machine

best way is to reinstall

assuming theres a problem which I cant resolve, can i just bring it down to apple service centre?

Most likely hardisk gonna up lorry. Happened to mine too. Prepare a new hdd liao. Upgrade to a 7200rpm one will be good.

if you have applecare, why not?

if not, better to replace HDD on your own. its quite simple actually

If you have AppleCare you can bring it down now and explain your issue. You don't have to wait till it's gone.

Anyway his nick is mac_mac, he changed my hdd for me at a decent price and the mbp is in a good condition now.

Good for ppl staying in the east side

Guys, got a similar issue as TS.

My 2009 macbook pro booted up into a white screen with an apple logo. The difference is, this screen doesn't go away and I can't get into the login screen. $There are some "words / command languages" that appears on the screen after leaving it for a while.

I can't hear any spinning of the harddisk inside the computer. Is this an indication that my harddisk is dead or is it the motherboard? Preparing to get another notebook tonight but would like to get the facts right first and hopefully, if it's a harddisk issue, I could just replace it and save some money.

Thanks. It is a hard disk failure. Bought a new notebook since the previous one was 4 years old.

if u bought apple care, the replacement will be free if they determined the HDD is faulty

the size will be same as what you originally bought it with.
