I am seriously considering doing private business diploma at PSB or similar institute. I am at my mid 30s and working as regional role withdrawing close to 5 figure.

I have no qualification at all. probably why I am going back to study is because I felt something is missing in my life and I need to accomplish it. 2nd reason is to be the top 5% MNC management I believe I will need the cert. dip or deg.

wa close to 5 fig? what exactly are you doing? sales? that's the only thing i can think of. somore without quali. amazingly remarkable for your age and papers. i'm at mid 30s in fact just passed a little over mid... myself barely even scraping by these days let alone getting close to 3k. share abit about your work?

Hey there, I am in a similar boat as you are (obviously not earning the same salary as you)

I am in the early 30s but also after working for quite a while and last year, I think real hard on what I wanted, I decided to quit and go on ahead with my studies.

Like you, I felt that something is missing, and I admit that I let it drag, likely because when I was young, I did not give much thought into it till now. As some have mentioned, depending on which qualifications you are going to take, make sure that you have enough finance to support your studies, as well as you daily / other expenses during the duration of your qualifications (if you are planning to go for Full Time)

Going back to studies is indeed tough. Your memory will not be as good as the younger generation. They are out to get top marks while you will be struggling for a pass.

Also the resources for studies now is very different from 10 to 20 years ago.

It is not going to be easy. Consider what you want to achieve in your studies and see if you are willing to sacrifice. Lots of time is required. No more rest days, weekends will be burnt studying just to keep pace will your peers.

Like what others have mentioned, ensure financially you are sound and able to last the duration of the study and the initial pay cut from a new job.

Dont study just for sake of corporate climbing as sometime might not work put as u plan

when the economy is bad, it's the best time to study and/or travel.

if one is preparing to study full-time, it means he will not be working. it also meant that he would have been prepared with the money required for those few years of full-time study. Therefore, if the economy is bad, how will it affect him? when the economy is bad, it's the best time to spend money.

Don’t bother if you are already doing well in your career. At your stage perhaps networking would be more important.

But if you feel a degree will help you get into top management, I suggest Executive MBA at Insead. That would give you pedigree, knowledge and network. But I don’t know if they will accept you if - as you said - you have no education.

Study!!! I mean if you wna climb, then you should. It’s a realistic society in Sg... Times have changed, no degree/diploma = will have ceiling to how high you can climb. But also learning is fun! And if losing the income is what is worrying to you... with the amount you earn I’m sure you have more than enough savings? Plus money is not everything. Go with your heart man. You only die once, money cannot bring to grave but life experiences develops character and virtue, can potentially be challenging but will def bring you joy. I support going back to sch!! Plus if you can draw 5 figure sum a month you should be smart enough to handle going back to sch I think???

Hey just to share my personal experience. I took the long route. I graduated ITE at the age of 19 and planned to stopped studying. Life was tough and often get belittled by bosses and drawing a thousand per month. So I tried my luck and I applied poly at the age of 23.Although I Am one of the few elderest in the in my course. Despite not scoring well in poly because my FYP pulled me down but I managed to get my diploma anyway. Looking back I never regret. Don't let age be the barrier to learn because everyone of us is learning something everyday.

You may consider to do MBA to move into corporate management.

I went back to studies at age 42 after a gap of 11 years.

It took a while for my body to adjust, especially the brain/mind and memory work.

The struggle is real but if you intend to do it, go for it.

I did it part time with a young family of three.

I went back to school at the age of 30 because the company that i join said that I don't have the certificate and cannot pay me what i requested. I proof them wrong by joining them, studied part time, and then left for another company that pay me much higher than what i initially wanted from the company who use my cert as an excuse.

The push factor was that nudge by the company, and i actually want to thank them becos the knowledge live with me for the rest of my life.
