Stupid question regarding IBKR

Hi folks,

Have a simple question though I can't seem to get my mind to an answer..

Say for example,

My current portfolio value is 100k
I have an unrealized loss of 20k

This should mean that I have to date deposited or invested 120k. However when I reconcile with my deposit / withdrawal report, this is showing something like 90k instead.


Can't wrap my head around though I am sure there is a very simple answer.. Any guidance will be appreciated! Cheers.

If you're looking at your portfolio in the app, your USD conversion may have been factored into your unrealised loss.

The website should show a different one.

Check to see, what is the base currency you have selected for the portfolio data that appears. I have changed mine to USD so you don't see the fluctuations dur to FX.

You deposited $90K and started a portfolio of $90K.

The $90K portfolio gained to $120K. You sold the $120K back into cash.

You bought back $120K of portfolio. The value dropped back to $100K.
You have $20K unrealized loss.
