Hi,
I'm writing this thread to express my utter disappointment and regret over engaging the service of this particular IT repairman, Arthur Yeo.
If you will, allow me to spread my experience with this very unprofessional and arrogant IT repairman.
What happened:
I called him about a month ago to inquire about the repair charges about replacing a PC that's unable to start up and having a blue screen. All he told me was he needs to see the computer for himself first. Well, on his website, it stated he could advise on the charges beforehand. (Marketing ploy to scam unassuming consumers like me: Read further and you'll know why)
He came over on the 23rd of March, and after checking the CPU, said that the RAM was faulty and needed replacement. Fair enough, he did said that he was going to replace the RAM but what he did not mention was that he was installing his inferior 1GB RAM into my HP Pavilion PC (Originally 4GB RAM).
It was only after I've clicked onto "my computer" to check the storage space, that I noticed the RAM was reduced. But it was a little too late, I've paid him and he has already left my place. Tried calling him repeatedly but to my dismay, his number was not in use.
Soon, I had mixed feelings over engaging his services. True enough, just a few days after, the problem surfaced again, monitor turned blue screen and shortly thereafter, I can hear this loud, shrieking noise coming from the CPU and the internal fan turning really fast. Smsed him and he replied his next day giving his address and simply telling me to go over to his office or warehouse to deliver my CPU for repair.
All these while, he has shown himself to be money-faced, and unprofessional in his late response to my smses, choosing to be ignorant over my queries and failing to address my concerns by taking short cuts, for e.g. simply providing his address.
I honestly think it's improper and unethical of Arthur Yeo to just change my 4GB RAM to 1GB RAM without advance notice. In his subsequent smses after I probed him further, he claimed to have told me that the replacement was 1GB and charged the price of 1GB RAM. It doesnt make sense. Why would I pay for a downgrade, which would set me back a hundred sing dollars.
I had to engage another IT serviceman from HP to repair my PC again. At least, the second one was trustworthy and honest in his dealings and he took the effort to explain and clarify our doubts that I have over IT matters.
Instead of rectifying the problem, my CPU had been downgraded to one RAM, thereby causing the performance of it to be sluggish and unsatisfactory, and eventually failure.
Forumers, I hope no one else will have to go through the agony I've experienced. I'm sorry to spread the misery but I've no other avenue to seek redress. The best I could do is to advise others not to fall into his trap.
