Hi,

I'm writing this thread to express my utter disappointment and regret over engaging the service of this particular IT repairman, Arthur Yeo.

If you will, allow me to spread my experience with this very unprofessional and arrogant IT repairman.

What happened:
I called him about a month ago to inquire about the repair charges about replacing a PC that's unable to start up and having a blue screen. All he told me was he needs to see the computer for himself first. Well, on his website, it stated he could advise on the charges beforehand. (Marketing ploy to scam unassuming consumers like me: Read further and you'll know why)

He came over on the 23rd of March, and after checking the CPU, said that the RAM was faulty and needed replacement. Fair enough, he did said that he was going to replace the RAM but what he did not mention was that he was installing his inferior 1GB RAM into my HP Pavilion PC (Originally 4GB RAM).

It was only after I've clicked onto "my computer" to check the storage space, that I noticed the RAM was reduced. But it was a little too late, I've paid him and he has already left my place. Tried calling him repeatedly but to my dismay, his number was not in use.

Soon, I had mixed feelings over engaging his services. True enough, just a few days after, the problem surfaced again, monitor turned blue screen and shortly thereafter, I can hear this loud, shrieking noise coming from the CPU and the internal fan turning really fast. Smsed him and he replied his next day giving his address and simply telling me to go over to his office or warehouse to deliver my CPU for repair.

All these while, he has shown himself to be money-faced, and unprofessional in his late response to my smses, choosing to be ignorant over my queries and failing to address my concerns by taking short cuts, for e.g. simply providing his address.

I honestly think it's improper and unethical of Arthur Yeo to just change my 4GB RAM to 1GB RAM without advance notice. In his subsequent smses after I probed him further, he claimed to have told me that the replacement was 1GB and charged the price of 1GB RAM. It doesnt make sense. Why would I pay for a downgrade, which would set me back a hundred sing dollars.

I had to engage another IT serviceman from HP to repair my PC again. At least, the second one was trustworthy and honest in his dealings and he took the effort to explain and clarify our doubts that I have over IT matters.

Instead of rectifying the problem, my CPU had been downgraded to one RAM, thereby causing the performance of it to be sluggish and unsatisfactory, and eventually failure.

Forumers, I hope no one else will have to go through the agony I've experienced. I'm sorry to spread the misery but I've no other avenue to seek redress. The best I could do is to advise others not to fall into his trap.

I've actually wanted to start my own thread about this guy whom i've just approached 15 minutes ago, but thought its better for me to post it here than clutter up the forums with another thread

I found this Arthur Yeo through google, on the website, he stated that he'll explain all the breakdown of charges etc to me

Making a call to him, I told him about my problem (laptop battery might be faulty), he mentioned a consultation fee of S$10 - S$38, I said ok, I'll discuss with my wife and get back to him

I then SMS-ed him saying I'm sorry and will contact you again as I've managed to find another IT guy

He replied saying "What a shame, you actually thought to get it for free?"

Upon which, I gave a phone call to him and ask him what is the reason for the SMS which is uncalled for, he then proceeded to give me a lecture etc which I promptly hung up

Guys, I hope nobody bother to waste their time on this "service"

Regards

my say

I just discovered above postings about me. Let me put things into perspective.

I have been in PC repair for more than 10 years and had come across all sorts of people from all walks of life with all imaginable personalities, i.e. good, bad, honest, lier, sincere, ugly, generous, stingy... etc., you named it.
I dare to say, across the globe, NO single company and individual in service industry are 100% liked by everyone. Just to name a few in Singapore, are any of these company have just praises but zero complaints about them? E.g. singtel, starhub, m1, SIA, IKEA, Courts, FairPrice, CityCab, SGH, CGH... etc.? Seeing the amount of complains they received, why are these companies are still around? Simply, whether a company or individual is good for everyone, really depends on individual experience and it’s very personal.
Many things can go wrong for any company or individual in service industry results in customer dissatisfaction. But, very often, when someone complained about a company or individual over an incident, over one reason or another, his complains often painted one side of the story and, often, he made himself an angel. Sadly, some people, after reading their complains, believe in everything they say.

Time is precious. I do not want to spend too much time in writing this reply.

But here it goes:

To applesfanatic – i have new customer every other day and i practise putting remarks in their contacts in my mobile phone in order to remind me who they are. applesfanatic, your remarks in my contact is ‘called 20 times’. I recall you made exceptionally high number of enquiry calls, in a span of few months (!), before engaging my service. I usually save the phone number of the caller after first call and put remarks about his enquiry so as to know what his computer situation is if he calls again. That is how i remembered you when you made subsequent calls. Something is clearly not right about you. I let the forumers here to imagine what sort of people are you and the truth of what you said.

to Владимир – please try to grow up sooner because you jump into conclusion base on one side of the story, too soon too quick. If you have many more years to live, it is no good if you continue with this characteristic.

to darkstrife88 –You sounded very positively and cheerful in your first enquiry phone call and gladly agreed that you would like to bring your computer to me for diagnosis. I then sms you my address. As i mentioned above, i came across all sorts of people in my years of pc repair experience, i came across quite a few assume everyone in pc repair business practise no-fix no-charge. I am not one of them and i didn’t say so in my website. i had the feeling you had mistaken there is no charge from me if there is no fix, that is why you agreed readily to engage my service, thus i mentioned my charges in my sms i provided my address. You are too quick to say you were not coming after receiving my sms. It is obvious what happened. Were you able to find a no-fix no-fee later?

to affgrte – you came to me with a computer that could not boot, no display on monitor. I fixed the problem, you showed me you were very happy and satisfied when you left (because the problem was 100% fixed). when you got home and started to reinstall windows, there you encountered other problems, out of courtesy, i helped you over SMS and phone calls over few hours, there were some progress but nothing truly fixed the problem. I then advised you to take the computer back to the shop since it’s just one week old, or bring back to me for further diagnosis. When you asked, i mentioned there is charge for that further diagnosis but you started yelling i don’t provide warranty in my service. I am very clear in my pc repair business – you came to me with a computer not able to boot, i fixed it, you paid, the job is considered done. Otherwise, you could not had paid me. When your computer ran into other problem subsequently and it’s not related to the initial problem, it has nothing to do with warranty of my initial service (thus i levied nominal charge of $20). I call this situation ‘rationale’ and you were irrational. This is like you came to me with a car not able to start, i managed to fix it, you paid and drove away. Along the way, you realised the aircon is not working, you called me and expect me to repair it under the warranty of my initial service? I have been very long in my business and I am very clear in what i do and what i don’t do. I can see you are too young to be matured and rationale (you look to me like you are 15-17 years old). I will remember you for long time because your case is truly classic. you greeted me with lovely muffin when i opened the door for you in the morning, i appreciated your gesture, you were 100% satisifed when you left with your computer 100% fixed, i considered the customer satisfaction was 100%. But it dropped to 0% when you wrote bad about me in this forum later of the day. I thought you made my day when you left, but you ruined it very same day :-(

To all the people reading this, i have been in this business for long time and i have learned how to deal with all sorts of people and situation. My conscious is very clear in above situation. i have learned how to survive and I let nobody bully. i am very clear in how i provide my service and what my rights are. Just like many other organisation and individual in service industry, though we strive, but we can’t possibly please everyone. And, some or many of you may understand, some customer can never be pleased. To the few dissatisfied people above, i hope you will be a better person over times, my life, my business moves on, with or without you.

Cheers.

affgrte can lies

When I read again, I discovered affgrte is not only immature but also a big lier.

He said – “I engaged his service because my computer had booting up issue and then I bring to his house and all he did was uninstall my original windows with his pirated one and charged my $60 after which my computer crashed and he said not his fault”

It was true that his desktop could not boot, and I fixed it when he brought to me. When he was with me, he mentioned his VGA was rather old and to play safe, he decided to buy new VGA cable, plus a VGA/DVI convertor from me. With the purchase and my diagnosis, the total was $65 but I reduced it to $60 when he asked for discount.

I commented the windows he installed onto his computer, xp home edition, was very old. I didn’t reinstall his windows. He paid and left very happily and satisfied (he even told me how stupid he was not able to solve the simple problem)

He tried to install windows 7 himself at home and encountered other problems (not booting problem I had fixed).

Benjamin, 974 90 638, from braddell, you are extremely ungrateful! If only I can meet your parents, teachers and friends, I will tell them how unscrupulous, dangerous and cunning you are and stay far away from you.

If only my wish can come true, I wish there are lesser people like you in our society.

CASE

To the few posted your dissatisfaction with my service here, while I am not afraid of seeing your post here, seriously, if you feel so strongly that you have a case, justice should be served on me, there is CASE and Small Claims Tribunal you can go to. As a person with high confidence, I believe everyone should fight for their rights, including you.

I provide my service with conscious and I am not afraid to take on any challenge. As a consumer, you should fight for your rights too.

Great day, cheers!

That's another reason why i stop accepting home-user requests. most of them are super stingy. we offer onsite services and they treat us like a fool. pay peanuts and expect golden services.

I also wan to share one my experience..My location @ Hougang. One user living at Woodlands ring road expect me to take $20 and settle all his 3PCs problems.

Oh well. i given up. I let those home user bring their PC all the way to SLS and let those shops chop them then.

You have my full sympathy because I experience the same thing every now and then. I have learned, and still learning to deal all types of customer and their expectation. Just like you, when customer fall short of my expectation in some way, I rather give them a miss (than they ruin my day). Yes, let them take bus, mrt or taxi to SLS and lug their computer from floor to floor themselves (than enjoying home service).

Like what I have mentioned, there are good, bad, generous, ugly and stingy customers. While I appreciate the goods and reciprocate with extra and tender services, I stand firm on my rights with the bad and lousy one.

cheers!

clarifications

if u had explained exactly what u were doing to them i guess there wont be such a thread around here.

you said "if u had explained exactly what u were doing to them i guess there wont be such a thread around here." - applefanatic is super complain queen. he started the thread. Who are you to tell me 'if I had explained exactly...' HOW DID YOU KNOW I DIDN'T? applefanatic called more than 20 times in a span of few months before he decided to engage my service. I knew the guy has large degree of mental problem but I gave him the benefits of doubt and took his job. Moreover, I wanted to see what he looked like.

My time is very precious and I didn't want to spend more unproductive time on this. But since you asked, here it goes:

applefanatic - his desktop couldn't boot, I diagnosed one of the two rams was bad. I had only one piece of 1gb. The ram was replaced and he was charged for 1gb (not 4gb). I didn't short change him. I believe his second ram turned bad days or weeks later. He said he called but there was no answer - he is saying I am not allowed to miss any calls no matter under what circumstances? I sent him my address for he to bring his computer to me, he complained 'I simply sent my address'. He was expecting tender loving care? In my point of view, he is a super bitch can never be pleased.

gladiusgg - Please read VERY CAREFULLY before you write anything - I didn't install windows for Benjamin (the boy). Are you blind, have low English education, drunk, or all the above?

I can see you are far-less-than qualified to comment anything here due to your inferior background. Never go to war without any bullets (or you simply never have any? you tell us)

My suggestion is to buy a Dell PC & get their 3 years warranty. Their PCs are pretty cheap anyway & during the warranty period, any problems, next business day onsite service at no charge. My son's Dell PC's RAM starting giving problems after 1.5 years, repair was quick & service was good. There were other hardware issues later - same quick onsite repair & service.

Extremely Poor Service by Arthur Yeo

The details would be too long and whiny, but for the sake of the greater Singaporean community, I believe we should utilize this forum to share the best servicemen and also the worst.

For the latter, I would like to kindly warn everyone of the serviceman called Arthur Yeo. Rude, obnoxious and unpleasant. Took my laptop, absorbed my fees he termed as "delivery fees" and when the laptop was at his workshop he called me to say that he did not not have the necessary parts, even AFTER i double confirmed my model and all details. This was also after collecting my fees.

He came to my house and immediately demanded to use my toilet. Walked in just like that.

Wasted one whole day and even demanded that I head down to collect. Hung up on me during our phone call when the laptop was still in his possession.

Please spread the the word and do not engage in his services!!! All we want are friendly and reliable IT servicemen. Do let me know if you guys have any good recommendations.

Thank you.
