Hi Bros

I have just upgraded to a "proper" Home entertainment system and have some questions on subwoofer cables.

Currently I'm using a spare RCA cable (from some past Blu-ray player). Is this cable ok for subwoofer use?

I have a few old RG6 (SCV cables) and "Coaxial F to RCA" adapters lying around. Can and should I use those instead?

Distance from amplifier to subwoofer is about 1 metre if that matters.

thanks

A RCA cable will do but the difference between a subwoofer cable
and RCA is the shielding from interference.

Can get any cheap one like Belkin or etc. if you
want a better subwoofer cable.
Avoid Monster as there's a lot of fake in the market.

1694A or RG6 cable (which the 1694A is)? Maybe ask TS if he needs his cable to be able to bend.

RG59 like 1505 is also ok for digital and analogue, but more flexible. Still as thick though.

If your current cable is those meant for component video red blue green then it doesn't make much more of a difference to analogue.

And a subwoofer cable uses ____ connector and ____ cable...?

My receiver is almost next to the subwoofer, so bending requirement should not be too much an issue. I understand for shielding, RG6 > RG59 > normal RCA cable.

So far I had not encountered any distortion in my subwoofer, but nevertheless I will probably try out using a RG6 SCV cable with RCA adaptors on both end and see the differences.

thanks!

Bluetooth for Subwoofer

Has anyone tried using Bluetooth transmitter and receiver to make the subwoofer wireless. I understand that the 2.4GHz radio transmitter may interfere with home wifi signals.

It will not work, Bluetooth supports only up to 3Mb of data
is far too slow for any subwoofer to work properly.
Majority of sound bars employ their own
wireless technology to pair the sound bar and subwoofer.

What type of tech, I do not know what is it.
But I know, it pose no interference to home network
or let alone let people tap on it to use on other devices.

If you are looking at wireless setup just get a sound bar
will do. Creating your own wireless system is impossible,
you need to build a wireless interface that supports high
data rate as well as support different frequencies.

If you understand how sound bar works than you can look
in it if not just get a ready solution.
Cheapest sound bar is about $399.
