Hi all, I was watching you tube when suddenly everything just stopped working. The screen went blank and even the fans stopped. I couldn't get to start thereafter. What could be the issue, faulty psu?

Thanks in advance.

Have you been able to power on the PC thereafter? Any sounds heard before or any burning smell detected? Sounds like PSU uplorry

should be a faulty psu. go rma it if it still has warranty, otherwise you'll have to get a new psu.

exactly the same thing happened to me over the CNY weekend. But my PSU is ok. After some troubleshooting, it's my CPU that had gone bad since my pc can post with same setup but a different CPU.

TS - you can try using the paperclip method to test your PSU. If it's bad and still under warranty, go and RMA it. If it's not bad, then you may need to find some spares to help you troubleshoot or find someone that's able to help you.

Thanks for all the replies.

Nothing is working when I try to restart. Not even the fans. No burning smell or sound when the pc crashed. It's as though someone turned off the power supply. It's probably because of a dead psu. I'll get it changed. Cheers.

I went to a neighbourhood pc shop to get a replacement psu.

They claimed that because I have a "high end" gtx670 graphics card, in addition to the motherboard, ssd and a old hdd, only a minimum of a 600w psu would suffice and I was quoted $150 for it, brand unknown.

Is it true that I need a minimum of a 600w to power my system?

go and measure the TPU of ur rig, then maybe add a 20-30% buffer. Then decide what power rating u want to buy.

with your current setup, 500-550w should be more than enough. recommend you don't go back to that store, go sls/lazada and get fsp hexa+ 550w for $68 or seasonic s12ii for $85 if you can spend a little more, both at pcthemes instead.
