Hi,

my current rig as such,

CPUi7-6700K
MOBO ASUS Z170 PRO GAMING
COOLER ID FROSTFLOW 240L
RAM CORSAIR LPX DDR4-3000 16GB
STORAGE Samsung 850 EVO SSD 500GB + 2TB WD BLUE
GPU ZOTAC GTX1060 6GB AMP
POWER SEASONIC G650W
OS Windows 10 Professional

considering an upgrade to improve multi tasking performance.
graphics seemed to lag whenever i toggle multiple windows and gaming at the same time.

Thanks.

My CPU often runs at close to 100% juz with MHW running in the background and 1 chrome window playing a video.

"Do keep in mind that most of the apps, like chrome, consume alot of your cpu/ram resources."
would increasing the RAM help?

the ASUS Z170 mobo also seemed to be only compatible up to the Intel Core i7-7700K; Should the mobo be my next in line upgrade?

16GB of RAM is fine. While you can upgrade to i7-7700K, it will just be an incremental upgrade. You are better off upgrading both CPU+MB to Ryzen.

You can either upgrade to a 7 generation intel processor and keep your mainboard or replace mainboard and upgrade to a 9 generation intel processor.
