Since you are a working adult, why not try and take up a programming course in UniSIM, since the uni is meant for working adults.

may i know is it a short course or a degree program u referring to ?

Im referring to both short courses and degree program cos the school offers these courses for working adults. Their degree program is abit long around 3yrs+ which might not be suitable since you want shorter duration.

I think the school do offer short courses. Such as taking up continuation education program and also taking up Industry-Related courses for working adults. You may wanna read up the info on the web. It will be best if your company is to sponsor your studies. All the best! :)

In that case, you will need some knowledge in microprocessor programming such as Arduino. You will also need quite a fair bit of such low level electrical and electronic skill sets. But seriously, do you company do camera firmware design for living ? It's quite weird your boss hire you, without you having such skill.

That's good, perhaps you should consider a part time degree with NUS or NTU. Have you approach their general office for these information ? Not going to be easy for a working person, but possible.

Have you checked whether there's any short WSQ courses that may teach what you need?

Also NYP has a specialist diploma in embedded systems. It is meant for degree holder engineers seeking specialized knowledge in this area, but it will also consider and accept non-degree applicants with relevant experience.

Maybe such short courses focused on certain applicable skill set would be more suitable if you just need to know how to perform certain tasks. These courses probably last a few days to a few months only. A part time degree would take several years.

imo, if you (and your boss) are rushing to learn applicable skills which you can apply in your job directly, polytechnics offer a more direct hands-on training and applicable knowledge. Better for working professionals looking to get a quick start in something.

A university degree programme tends to spend more time on foundation modules and theories. Probably the first two semesters you'll be made to focus on knowledge that you cannot apply directly in your job. Not sure if your boss can afford to wait till you complete the first 2 or 3 years of degree programme to know enough to do something concrete.
