Suggestion for Short Trips

I am planning for a birthday surprise for my gf in Oct.
But I am on a budget,I am thinking of a short trips with nice views/scenery.perhaps nearby countries.

I welcome any suggestions.

yup malacca, penang and langkawai are nice places with affordable options.

If want romantic locations, probably beach destinations like what beanstalk6 said. Can also be bintan; or batam if low budget.

If want sight seeing places, probably malaysia would be fine as well, as long as places where you both havent been to before.. Even a trip to Genting or Cameron highlands is good- and the temperature shiok!

If your budget is slightly higher, I would recommend going on a cruise. Not many people thought of going on a cruise, but it provides a very wholesome experience. Romantic sea view, entertaining shows and activities.. All up to you. Most importantly is they usually bring you to 2-3 places- can see more things!

Planning a trip in Dec but only can only manage to get 2 days of leave max
So plus weekends = 4 days

Any suggestions where I can go?
Big countries are out of question since I can't explore within 4 days.
I'm thinking of Maldives and HK, anymore suggestions

It would help if you told us how budget is your budget and how many days do you have? I was going to suggest Taipei, but I don't know if it would fit your budget.
