Hey guys,

I'm planning to upgrade my hardware probably this month or next. Main upgrade would be a good GPU which can support games like GTA V on ultra. I am not planning to upgrade my storage devices.

Is it still a good time to buy gtx970 or should I wait for AMD 3xx versions?

My budget for upgrade is +- 900. I believe my current specs can be seen over here >>>>>>>

Thank you guys as always!! :s12:

As long as you don't SLI, 500W is fine. TDP for 980 is 165W whereas your current 270x is 180W

I thought there is not much performance difference between 970 and 980?

about 20% or so difference. better value card is gtx970, but u wanted to play ultra settings and u have the budget for it, so would recommend gtx980.

If I get 980, I would need to upgrade my PSU, isn't it? Do you think my CPU will bottleneck its performance?

Ur PSU is sufficient for single card and your CPU is an i5, shouldnt be bottlenecking your performance.

If you can wait, why not see what AMD 3XX cards or GTX 980ti got to offer. Should be soon.

new products tends to be more expensive

why not wait for the 390x to be out den maybe gtx 970 price would be reduced

anways a single gtx 970 should be sufficient to play ultra for gta v..there's a lot of reviews of players playing gta v using gtx 970

and its only less than $500 ..you can save ur $ for future upgrades

Yeah man. I'm thinking the same too. Hopefully, green camp will try to be aggressive with their pricing when 390x comes out.

no need upgrade ram or mobo, just gfx will do

rendering and texture in gta v is kind of demanding and a gtx970 will give u avg 50 fps in games due to the 3.5gb vram on it

u can wait for 390x i think, but might need to upgrade ur psu for it

I haven't play GTA V, I know there's a beta driver for nvidia card for the game right? Previously I read that people are getting terrible graphical stutter on SLI so they rather play on single card :s22:

Thanks for answering!

If I go for 980, which version would best fit my budget and requirement?
