Feel free to suggest for my diy comp. Need a com to run multi-threaded programs, not for gaming. Kindly suggest brand and best shops to purchase parts or whole? Thanks.

The specs should be at least:
Good i7 cpu
8gb ram
500gb hdd or 250gb ssd
windows 7

no need graphics card or monitor.
budget: $800

Need to be that secretive? If you not sure and don't want to tell us what sort of software, it will be tough to determine if hyperthreading really necessary.

Yes, need to be so secretive :D I once ran it on a 1st gen i7 and it ran at 100% CPU. It is scalable as well, so likely to always max out the CPU.

If that's the case, just get 3rd gen i7 ok alr.

Seems to take up a lot of CPU and it is scalable. So will always be scaled up to almost 100%. I think maybe need 4th or 5th gen?

What i5 CPU model is that? Not conducted on notebook right i assume? And did RAM max out as well? How much RAM on that?

Not sure if your software specifically runs only on Windows 7. I will recommend to wait for Windows 8.1 deal to be back.

CPU+MB: Intel Core i7-4790 + ASRock H81M-HDS R2.0 @ $445
RAM: Crucial DDR3-1600 CL11 8GB @ $61
HDD: Western Digital Blue 1TB @ $76 (PC Themes)
PSU: FSP Hexa+ 450W [80 Plus] @ $58
CASE: Generic ATX Chassis @ $25
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium SP1 64-bit [OEM] @ $130

Total: $795

Recommended:
OS: Microsoft Windows 8.1 Pro 64-bit Product Key [OEM] @ $35 (G2A)
Currently OOS.
Download ISO here.
And upgrade to Window 10 Pro for free thereafter. Save yourself $100.

Not conducted on notebook. It is i5-650 if I remember correctly. I've ran it on a couple of different coms as well. Also ended most of the running processes to make sure they don't take up much resources.

It doesn't take up much ram.

Core i5-650 is just a dual core with hyperthreading CPU. You should test it on a 2nd gen and later Core i5 instead.
