Suitable cpu cooler for 5800x

Got to depends on Corsair if doing for their distributor too if not consumer absorb the cost

I recently built a new system with a 5800x and B550 Tomahawk and am using a Noctua NH-U12A. Case is a Phanteks P600S with 3x140mm front intake Phanteks fans and 1x120mm rear exhaust fan, and front solid panel opened to expose the mesh face.

Stock CPU config, temps were about 87C in Cinebench R23 multi-core. I reduced the PPT/EDC/TDC following the general suggestions in the TPU forums (TPU link) and made some changes with the Curve Optimizer in the BIOS. Now, max temps in CBR23 are 71-72 C. ** score has also gone up by a few points to 15,344. While playing around with the CO, I could drop the temps down to the high 60s(and higher CB23 MC scores) and the system seemed to be stable under 1-2 days of stress testing (P95, OCCT, Corecycler etc) but I backed off the offsets a bit just to avoid potential surprises down the line when idling or under low load.

Under normal gaming load (AC Valhalla maxed out at 1440p), it rarely exceeds 65 C..usually hovers around 59-65 C. All fans are set to ramp up such that upto about 65C there is hardly any noise from the system discernable above the ambient noise of my ceiling and stand fans.

I was considering the Arctic Cooling LF series of AIOs, but decided to finally settle on the fit-and-forget NH-U12A instead for my computing usage patterns.

What settings you use for PPT/EDC/TDC can share, i'm trying to lower my temp.

I set PPT/EDC/TDC to 100/90/70. Curve optimizer settings are -18 for all cores except the 2 'best' cores which are at -5 each. I could drop down to about -23 and -13 respectively, but I decided to play it safe as I was okay with the temps I was getting. Your settings will vary, depending on your CPU and system.

BTW, I have not set anything in the BIOS to auto OC or manual OC. I am happy with stock performance but need cooler temps and stability. System idles between 37-40 C in ambient SG conditions (without aircon running).

You can read the TPU thread I linked above, and similar threads on forums such as overclock.net (forgot the link..didn't bookmark it) to see what you can play around with.

your CO negative so hardcore.. stable anot, used for how long since u set?

Built it and using it since first week of Dec 2021. Daily use for 10+ hours for everything from browsing, gaming, MS Office etc with a lot of idle time in between. So far very stable. Not a single crash, BSOD or hanging. Fingers crossed! I hope it remains that way!

If it starts misbehaving, I will back off on the negative offsets.

Anyway, I thought my settings were quite conservative; I see on other forums posters with much more negative than mine.
