Well again, nobody is asking history of TCL, but rather if they make their own panel now. They can have identical design down to pin with Samsung, but is it made by Samsung now? On top of that, they have newer products that doesn't follow the same design.

Good question. Answer is they are basically still making Samsung panel. In fact Samsung is also using these panel in the low end model.

Some China reviewer will do tear down to component level, IIRC xiaomi has multiple panel suppliers and 代工, so it comes down the the specific model.

That is correct, even on the same model, they have different variance. Same for TCL, they don't use their own factory panel for some model too.

It doesn't matter whether there is JV in the past, we should be valuating them base on their current circumstances. AFAIK, Xiaomi does indeed do their own tuning for the TV, the panel is definitely not manufacturered by them, probably similar arrangement with Philips. More imporant is these companies probably have their own in-house QA rather than the likes of Sterra which basically just change logo.

Again, doesn't matter if TCL took over Samsung or what, they are indeed a panel manufacturer as of now, and a very decent one with tech probably a generation or even less behind Samsung in some aspect. Whether they are good with their QC is another thing all together, but they are definitely OEM by classification.

So do they use Samsung staff for production and QC? This is like saying Toshiba still making home appliances for Midea.

You may know the board is made by Samsung. Toshiba no longer make home appliances.
