Any alienware ultrawide oled owners are first time convert of 21:9 after using 16:9 for many years? Do you prefer uw or 16:9?

I have lg cx and i appreciate oled however i not so sure about 21:9, not sure if i can get used to black bars at the 2 sides while viewing 16:9 contents.

Yet 1200+ for oled monitor is really tempting. Placed the order already but not sure if I should cancel it. If alienware comes out 32" oled at such price point I sure buy without need to think too much.

If you view alot of 16:9 content, it will bother you. I had a 34" UW monitor in the past and the black bars really bothered me.

I'm in a similar camp as you. 32" 4K OLED flat is my holy grail. Just a matter of when... 2023 roadmap definitely doesn't have any such models in the pipe-line, nor does 2024. I'm not sure why samsung only does curved UW 30+" QD OLEDs.

like that is like paying 2x price to view 27' in 34 uw screen.

Conversely, viewing 21:9 movies on a 16:9 display will get you black bars at the top and bottom and a smaller image as well.

amazon prime video is many 21:9 content
i switch from 16:10 to 21:9, is ok, no regret for gaming or work, mine 35".
for videos, there are black bars but for desktop use, as we sit closer still can manage.

i guess optimal 21:9 is 38" but not many such monitors

I googled from internet that disney plus, netflix, prime videos when play via browser is 21:9. Can anyone verify? That would means whole screen filled up no black bars at anywhere right?

think only amazon scale fit to full screen via browser. the others are 21:9 2560x1080p.

watch lotr on 21:9 is nice.

also think browser viewing do not have hdr

I think we are in the boat, I can't stand it whenever I see 2 black bars on the side; unh...
specially when you hook it up to console PS5, it's very bad to me.

in the end, I sold the aw3423dwf and opt for LG C2 with 4k resolution and another problem comes; which the current GPU is not strong enough to whack to high/ultra setting . However, upgrading to 4K resolution is mind blowing (was from coming from 2560x1440).

I think need 3rd party plug in workaround to get full uw experience on disney+ etc.

With those curve uw monitor I guess it's hard to enjoyed YouTube short video and some of those mobile uploaded in pivot, personally still prefer dual monitor in pivot and horizontal for the viewing of content.
