Need help... He's been picking on me since the start of the year and he gets overboard when the other superiors are not around. I know things like that are common in NS.. But is there really nothing I can do?

1) Speak to him and tell him to stop
2) Suck thumb
3) call ns hotline
4) Ask parents write to mp
5) If it makes you miserable, low mood or depressed can go see doctor tell them what is happening maybe you will get diagnosed adjustment/depressive disorder
6) speak to the superior's superior

Recommend 1 then 3, then 4
Second alternative 2
Least recommended is if you are mentally weak and feel super low mood/want to cry/suicidal when superior scold you then 5.

Some people need to be scolded to wake up their idea..I not sure wad TS do to make his officer angry..probably always cok up or bo chap in everything...
Pple wont scold u for no reason...

Why skip chain of command?

I have encountered this kind of superior before during my active days (some boh tak chek warrant officer who are only good at drinking beer in spec mess). I think either you go through the chain of command if you think it is really too overboard or just suck it up. Afterall it is only less than 2 years (after deducting BMT) and times will passby very fast during NS time.

need to hear both sides of story. could be TS is so utterly useless or the kind to make it a point to not give a f. or his existence is a hazard to others.

but ya, can call ns hotline or go keng mental illness with MO. they straight give temp pes e these days cause committing suicide is the trend now

Given the climate nowadays, I wouldn't say rampant abuse is commonplace. If anything, it's kinda rare to encounter (completely) unreasonable ppl who'd pick on you for no good reason. Yes, they may be uncouth and may ask a lot of you, but singling someone out for "fun" is certainly not the norm. Moreso if the said superior is also a fellow NSF like you. All just want to finish the service term and get out of there in one piece. Why want to offend ppl this way? Am I right?

Good idea to talk to your superior and at least come to an understanding as to why he's behaving that way with you. If he's being unreasonable or illogical, just take it up to HIS superior (next lvl). Inside SAF, like it or not, gotta respect chain-of-command. If after that no change, take it further or NS hotline. If you're going to be stuck working with him for the rest of your service, it's no-go to sucking up. It'd mess you up. Take care.

Main point is, don't be afraid of confrontation, because understanding could be met after. Don't just keep quiet and take it on yourself for no good reason. NS is a good chance for you to learn to fend for yourself. No doubt, out in the wild workplace, there'll be more like him and you'll have to deal with it too.
