Hi all, noobie here. I looking for a superzoom compact camera with stabilisation, able to take good low light photos and not too expensive.

Seem like Sony WX500 suit my requirements, is there other option out there? And any camera shop to recommend?

Thanks in advance!

Generally speaking, the superzoom cameras make so many compromises on sensor and lens people are left disappointed with the overall image quality. They almost always are poor in low-light too

I'd advise the G7X as a slightly more expensive but better overall package. It gives you significantly improved low-light performance over either of the ones you mentioned and although the longest focal length doesn't hit that of the W500 for example, it's still very impressive.

The overall lens & sensor combo is much better but if a crazy long zoom is what you want then it'd probably not be suitable. Though I would question why you need such a long zoom ;)

I reviewed it here -

U need to manage your expectations on the low light performance for a compact camera with small sensor.

Sony WX500 is quite a good choice if u don't need the viewfinder and control ring. Using the HX90V currently.

share some photos taken using the hx90v. Wx500 will be having the same result.

check price with alan photo and ms color.

Thanks magnus.

Checked the mentioned stores (and others) online and none state this model in their website or FB.

Noticed that it is selling at RM$1,199 (~SGD$400) across the border and also the following Sony Promo which selling it at $449 till 13 Sept.

Call them to check price. i'm sure they carry this model and could be lower than Sony's price.

Bought the hx90v in june from ms color and it was around $50 cheaper than Sony. Alan photo quoted the same price as ms color.

The WX500 is a good cam. Small and packs a punch

Another good series is the

Panasonic DMC-FZ200
or its successor Panasonic DMC-FZ300

Shoots raws and has an F2.8 constant lens
