Surface Pro 3 Heat Issues

Hey guys, my Surface Pro 3 is starting to run really hot, i think the thermal paste might need re-applying.

Idles at 50c, light loads chrome browsing can go up to 90c!

Anyone knows where i can go to do this? DIY seems dangerous as the screen is really fragile from reading online.

Also, how much should i expect to pay for such a service? Thanks! Basically blow out the dust + reapply thermal paste.

I don't expect it to be cheap because repair-ability score is very low. You can go to Sim Lim Square to get quotation from a few stores. Hybrid laptops like this tend to run hot because it is very slim, and very limited space for cooling.

Hope you got it fixed now! The Pro is multipurpose. It might not do anything the best - cheaper laptops can comfortably outpace it in terms of raw performance - but it does just about everything pretty well. Hence it get overwhelmed I think/

I don't get the point about the Surface Pro being multipurpose. Any laptop can do the same isn't it. Only advantage of the Surface Pro is its form factor which is easier to handle on the go since you can use it like a tablet.

On the flipside, this form factor have very limited space for the hardware since you are cramming both the screen and everything else on the same slab. The conventional laptop have its hardware on the keyboard portion, with the monitor being separate. As a result, the cooling solution is typically compromised. I've previously used this sort of hybrid laptop/ tablet before, and it runs very hot (80+ degs) even on moderate load.
