Hello, need some expertise on reformatting my surface pro 4.

Went to Settings > Update & Security > Recovery > Reset this PC > Removes everything

However, it keep prompting me this message:
“Insert your Windows installation or recovery media, and restart your PC with the media”

What should I do with this? And any other methods to reformat?

Thank you

Download windows creation tool and install into a empty 8gb (or bigger) thumb drive. Plug to your pc before wiping everything.

That's the windows installation and recovery media it meant.

Try with a thumb drive bigger than 8gb.

Place the creation tool .exe file into the thumb drive.

Try run the Windows Creation Tool with right click, run as administrator.

Why do you need to format it in the first place? When you run the Windows media creation tool, it will ask you where you want to save. If you point it to the flash drive, it will auto format it, and install Win 10 installation files in there.

Download the recovery image from Microsoft’s Surface Support Website. It comes inclusive of Drivers for your Pro 4 for an out of box usage
