I believe the dean is referring to the places allocated for mid-career changes~cos in the question posed to me by the vice-dean, he described the number of positions as 75 (which I believe means that 5 positions out of the 80 placement that was mentioned somewhere earlier here were already taken up by the past year applications).

I applied last year and have a reserved spot for the intake this upcoming January. (to let you know where the positions went)

Ah ok. My understanding from what I got from my interview was that there are 75 places each year. 20% of these places i.e. 15 places are for those who are free school leavers (fresh from poly / A levels)... the rest of the 80% (i.e. 60 places) are for mid-career JD / LLB applicants. With regards to those "promised" or reserved places (for NSFs) they could either fall under the "15" for the batch they applied under or under discretionary slots (similar to other govt unis in SG)... They may take in slightly more? given the attrition rates: https://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/education/suss-law-schools-pioneer-batch-sees-10-attrition

Of course, this is just my opinion based on my interpretation of what I heard during interview and the 2 online introductory talks by AP Darren Koh in May/June.

Now that all the interviews are done... The Admissions Board will now convene and select the 75 deserving applicants out of the 260/270 who applied... May the odds be in our favour!

I'm not sure about the Minlaw award but I didn't apply for the scholarship/sponsorship because I heard that the school will only award the scholarship/sponsorship to existing students with at least 1 semester of results (heard that they would usually reject scholarship/sponsorship applications from new students).

any idea when results will be out? They asked me the same question three times in the interview on why i want to switch careers. I thought this was odd and likely means I didnt get through. :(

My estimation based on the past year's records is that it will be made known between 16 and 27 November this year~

Thank you everyone for sharing. I am considering applying for JD in the 2022 intake. Am concerned about the fees though. I got to enjoy govt subsidy when I did my BA in UniSIM 8 years ago.

Good luck to all who have gone through the interview! May the odds ever be in your favour!

You can find more info here:
https://www.suss.edu.sg/law-programmes/admissions/tuition-fees

According to this page, the JD School fees WITHOUT Govt subsidy is S$164,352.

Are you 40 and above? If you are, can utilise the
SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy

Singapore Citizens (SCs) aged 40 and above who are pursuing MOE-subsidised part-time undergraduate programmes with the University will enjoy higher subsidy from 1 July 2015. The availability of the SkillsFuture Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy will be tied to a SC student's eligibility for the Government Subsidy. Hence, a SC student must be eligible for the Government Subsidy in order to be eligible for the enhanced subsidy.*

With this enhanced subsidy, SC students aged 40 and above (to be counted based on the year which he/she turns 40 years old) will pay tuition fees that are lower than the standard subsidised fees payable by other SC students who are below 40 years old.

Hi mr_zee,

thank you for the information. I am over 40 but the line that says that "a SC student must be eligible for the Government Subsidy in order to be eligible for the enhanced subsidy" means that if I had already enjoyed a subsidy for my previous degree under UniSIM, I will not be eligible for the subsidy again, even though I am above 40 years old.

I have written in to the student recruitment office to ask for an appointment to see what options are available for me.

Really appreciate your sharing.

Thanks for checking! But wow. Would have thought that with all the interviews being online instead of face to face, might have made the process faster.

really long wait...the LNAT..essay..interview were now vague memories...it was intense..now i almost forgotten that i applied for this. Haha.
