Hi all,
I got my Polytechnic diploma in 2016, currently working in semicon company. I am now in dilemma for choosing NUS and SUSS(not sure about recolonization wise in Sg). I just got offer from SUSS for this year July intake and need to decide latest by 15 June. However, NUS outcome is pending till end of June or could be later than that also. Should I wait NUS till result comes out which I am not sure will be successful or not?If not successful, have to apply for next year intake already. Note: got rejectd from NTU part time EEE also, gpa above 2.8 (not sure can appeal or not, if can pls giv me some advices)
In comparison, SUSS gives Beng with direct honours for at least 5yrs with school fees around 70k SSD while NUS gives BTech for around 4yrs with school fees around 60k SSD. Note: I dont have any subsidy as I am international student.
1. How recognized is SUSS in Sg from employers point of view?
2. Do you think it is worth to invest this amount of time, money and effort for future career as an engineer in Sg?
3. Should I consider going to privae uni like Conventry which is cheaper and shorter time to graduate?
4. How difference is career prosperity for NUS, SUSS and private uni certs in Sg's employers point of view?
Pls share me some experience and advice if you are current NUS/ SUSS students or seniors. Correct me if I said anything not right.
Thanks a lot.

Personally, I am from SUSS, aerospace programme part time as well. I am presuming you will be working full time and studying part time.

My suggestions is if you can go for the NUS programme rather than SUSS.

1.) I think SUSS is still pretty new in the aspect of employers points of view. NUS has been established over the years and recognized both locally and internationally. If you want me to choose, I would rather take the NUS programme. Also even though SUSS is direct hons, 70% of SUSS grad will take 3rd class or pass as SUSS do not practice bell curve. They might moderate, but they will not deem the top 5% to be A.

2.) Yes a degree is important for engineers

3.) Depends , are you intending to work for Gov ? Is the pvt degree recognised?

4.) As what many will say, your degree will only open your first door and acts as a checklist or criteria for future posting. Your work attitude will subsequently be more important in the employers eyes.

Just my 2 cents worth, as someone who is about to grad from SUSS
