SUSS vs SIMGE vs Kaplan?

Hi guys, I'm currently in a dilemma.

I have been accepted into the PT degree in psychology at SUSS. However,I'm wondering is it comparable with full time degree in other sg unis? I'm interested to go the clinical psychology route (prepared to take masters) and want to practice in Singapore.

Currently I'm wondering if I should take up the degree in suss or a full time degree in SIMGE or Kaplan.

For SUSS, I'm worried that it is still a young uni and may not be recognised so much if I were to apply for masters programme.
SIMGE and Kaplan advantage is that the degree will be a recognised foreign university. Also I'm not sure if the part time status at SUSS will affect my application for further education.

Yet, SUSS is an autonomous University and the other two are not. If I were to apply for a job in the civil service only degree from SUSS will be recognised right?

most likely they the govt sector will recognise u at diploma level lor.

ur tat "recognised foreign unversities" it will affect if u bring it back to the original country where the school is from. It will be recognised there. same like u bring suss cert to american,= not recognised.

To do a degree but only recognised at diploma level

SIM GE and Kaplan are not choices to consider. Far from SUSS.

Exactly. OP, I think if you still confused regarding this matter, just stick to private u.

There have been psychology graduates from SUSS/UniSIM (former name) who went on to do masters in Canada, Australia, USA, UK. Locally, we have alumni getting into the Masters of Clinical Psychology program in NUS too (the annual intake size is only 12). Ultimately, it depends on how well you do in the program too. If you want to further your studies in Psychology, you need at least a second upper class honours for most postgrad programs. Some postgrad programs admit those with second lower class honours, but that's uncommon.

I have written about SUSS many times before..

No doubt if you choose to enter SUSS, most probably you are rejected by most Singapore Universities with the only exception SIT since both are similar natured applied universities offering different programmes.

Otherwise you could be an aspiring Lawyer rejected by NUS and SMU.

At the end of the day, SUSS is still a local university with academic rigour endorsed by the MOE.

prolly wont be affected so much i guess (but diff story for finding job).

basically,if ur cert is from australia and u study in singapore,bring it back to australia and work =recognised.

Same like for suss cert which is recognised in singapore and if u find job, bring it to australia,its equivalent to a non-local/"private" degree and will not be recognized in general

Made equal as SIT.. The cut-off points are the same, same type of university..

But hey, you be your own judge.

Another question I have is, does it matter that the course is part time? I would have preferred a full time course but they don't have psychology full time.

yes it does matter to some extent. for larger / more desirable employers of course. they will make a distinction between full time/ part time studies.

That's sad cos the course I wanna take doesn't have a full time version
