if you clone, can

actually I think it is not bad an idea, but you better see how long the battery can last and whether the SDD will give you a sufficient ROI for you to actually bother putting an SSD in it

No need to clone. Changing OS drive disk model won't revoke the license, only motherboard model will. Did that many times already....

I would vote for clean install too. Data Mitigation might take hours. It is really worth the switch. :0

For media playback, you can get those $330+/- brand new HP celeron laptops from Qoo10 and then swap out the 500G hard disk with a low cost SSD like the Sandisk.

I did just that & the celeron is sufficient for most normal users' needs like video playback or surfing the net.

I checkwith HP and they said only support 100mb only for ethernet connection... but it has usb 3.0 port can use USB to ethernet converter and get 1000mb?

It's Celeron. i3 won't be $330+.

Those laptops came with windows 8.1 and 500G hdd, I upgraded 8.1 to windows 10 on the 500G hdd first. Then swap to ssd and do fresh Windows 10 install.
