Looks like cannot blame boomers this time. Mostly youngsters. How much are the watches going?

The highly anticipated Audemars Piguet x Swatch "Bioceramic Royal Pop" collection features 8 pocket watch designs with a hand-wound SISTEM51 movement. Retail prices start at S$535, with select models retailing for S$570

I don't understand why this is $500 at all. Was prepared to pay $200 for it.

It won't be damaged no matter how hard I throw it on the floor?

I used to have some of these plasticky watches from Swatch like 2 decades ago

They generally quite durable, anyhow drop or throw also won't spoil one :s13:

But their quality now I dunno

It is all about Values. 價值觀
And Timing.

Values: To them, they see the values in this watch. That bag. That phone.
Timing: Some want to be the first in everything.
When these two combined together, wah 不得了

It is same as iPhone. You can buy it later also. The phones will be there. But people still go and queue.

For me ish if I see the value in something, I will get it later. No need to be the first to buy, use, show, tell. I really don’t care if I’m the first or last. 🙂 But if I like and want, I will get it.

how these people calculate the risk/reward ratio ? if too many people have the same thing then it's possible the resale value is lower than the price they paid ?

Your view even more narrow and limited to think this is a good way to earn money. This is not even earning to be exact. They are scalpers, basically parasite of the economy who adds no real actual value

To now pivot to talk about “value” creation in a job really demonstrates your ignorance about economics and reality.

Why do you despise how people make money? You attribute value to what jobs they do? What value does an influencer add? How about commodities/currency trader? Arent they basically scalping?

When society values material goods more than humans, it doesn’t bode well
