Would u guys stay near cbd or prefer staying out side of cbd maybe 40mins away by transport

When you say 40 mins away, is it by driving or public transport? Either way, you're probably better off giving the suburb name.

Current 3 location for accommodation for consideration
1)Burwood (cheapest) SGD 156 /nite
2)summerfield (183~215 sgd / nite)
3) Ultimo (250/nite)

Is burwood worth it for 156 ?

Are they apartments or hotel rooms? Early this week, I had a room in the Novotel in Parramatta, only $125 aud per night although it was a once-off sale.

Burwood seems ok, as long as it's not too far away from the train station. It's a busy area, with lots of trains, and 2 shopping malls (although you would probably be only interested in the Westfield). I wouldn't drive to the city, especially if you're close to the station.

There isn't a summerfield in Sydney, although there is a Summer Hill. It's a much quieter suburb. Again look for the train station.

Ultimo is quite close to the city. Most people would simply walk or catch a bus into the city. It's a pretty busy area, being so close to the city.

If you insist on driving into the city from any of the above locations, keep in mind that parking is ridiculously expensive. On weekends, there are a few car parks with all-day parking for around $10-15. On weekdays, look for the early bird offers where you must enter the carpark between 7-9 (+/- half an hour, depending on the carpark), and exit in the late afternoon. If you need to stay longer, pick up the car and look for somewhere with an evening flat rate. Another option is to park at The Star in Pymont. It's a bit of a walk into the CBD, but the parking is only $15 per 6 hours. However, given the walk, I suppose you wouldn't bother if you stayed in Ultimo.

Generally speaking, most places near train stations should be ok (apart from the few dodgy suburbs). However, check for track work on the dates you're planning to be there at http://www.sydneytrains.info/

My in-laws stayed in Newtown earlier this week, and it's worth considering as well. The one they had was newly renovated, had beds for 6 pax, and only $243 per night with cleaning/service fees were taken into account.

I'm sure you'll find something, just filter by cost, near train, with parking. I think you should be able to find..

Hi guys,

Planning to go Sydney with a 5 month old baby, for 5d4n in early April. Would like to keep the itinerary relaxed. Neither of us drive.

Thinking of spending 3 days in Sydney CBD and 2 days in BM. Some qns...

- Is it advisable to go to the Blue Mountains with a baby? Would like to just relax and enjoy the views, nothing too strenuous.

- Is 3 days in the city enough to cover the major shopping areas and key attractions?

- For accommodation, we are looking at either Meriton World Tower or Meriton Pitt St in Sydney, and Fairmont in BM. Are the locations OK? Ideally we want the hotel to be as close to everything as possible, so we can easily pop back if baby needs a mid-day rest. Other suggestions are welcome.

- Are there any malls in Sydney that focuses on baby stores?

Any other feedback would be appreciated :)

Can't comment on BM part since i didn't stay over, but just bring a pram along, unless you're ok to carry your child for the whole time.

for Syd CBD, those locations are ok, you can actually walk the whole Syd CBD without take the trains. Then again, bring a pram..

I believe there's some factory outlets you can go to, there should be baby stores.

Without a car, it can be quite difficult to access the Blue Mountains with a baby. The Fairmont Resort is quite nice but you'll need to cab/uber from the Leura train station - and that's the easy part. It's a somewhat remote location, so getting out of it might not be easy. There is a Blue Mountains Explorer bus available. It's a hop on hop off bus, but at $100 for a family ticket, it's hardly a bargain. I generally don't recommend this bus given the price, but it does stop by the Fairmont Resort. It also goes by most areas of interests in Katoomba and Leura, so it might be suitable for you.

Hi guys

Planning a trip to Sydney in mid-July. It's about $440-490 for Scoot now. Any idea whether it is likely to be cheaper when Scoot's promotion (Take Off Tuesdays) extends to July?

Currently, Take Off Tuesdays is only for trips by June.

Thanks!

There was a promo over the weekend. I bought the flights (Scoot) for less than $300.

$4xx is roughly the usual price for Scoot. Note that the school holidays in Sydney (and the state of NSW) is the first 2 weeks of July - flight prices can go up very quickly around those dates, especially if you want to fly to Sydney towards the end of the 2nd week as families need to fly back home for the kids to start school.

I see, thanks for the info! That's very helpful

Is that the discounts to 20 destinations promo? I saw that but I thought the travel period was by June for Sydney, so doesn't work for me.
Any idea how regular that sort of promo is? I always thought they just lowered the one-way price and jacked up the return fare so its not much difference, but $300 is a good deal.

No idea on the last promo. I was just checking for flights that I'm keen on. There's a scoot and tiger promo next week I think.

I bought sin-ool//syd-sin for $280 on scoot. Without promo, the fare was $400. Was tracking the fares quite a bit as I have to be in Australia for something. Luckily the fares came down.

Yes easy drive, i think it's ticket parking near the summit.

3 days hang around the city, visit the beaches etc..

For a tourist, the only ticket parking you'll find is when you go to the 3 sisters. Also, if you don't mind some extra walking, it's possible to go to the blue mountains on the train.

Showers and storms are predicted for the next few days, so beaches probably aren't a good idea. And most certainly do NOT get on a ferry to Manly on Tuesday - lots of rain and possible storm in the forecast.

That's the only place i've been to. Took the train once and i think there's some hop on/off bus that takes your around..
