Even hostels in Sydney are going around 40 sgd per night. Any other cheap sleepover option for single traveller. Should I avoid staging in Sydney since it's so
Expensive.
I m
Planning to
Have gold coast and Melbourne in my 7
Days trip to Australia

anyone knows if we are allowed to bring barbecued meat into Sydney?
What will be the consequences if the custom spotted that.

Why would you want to do that?

List of Prohibited Items

Most important point: Declare it
It is up to the officers whether or not to allow it. There are a number of criteria which I am not fully aware of. Hence the safest option is not to bring any foodstuff into Australia.

u may bring food items in, but u'll have to declare them. whether they get past customs is another matter for them to decide - based on kevin301's list. some may be ok, while for others u may need to pay for them to quarantine/treat the items (in which u hafta pay the costs). alternatively, you may choose to forfeit the goods at no cost.

as for the fines, it's if u don't declare them and u get caught, then it's a hefty on-the-spot fine - no feigning ignorance over this since u signed the customs declaration card.

not much advantage to checking in the luggage, coz you have to collect it from the carousel prior to going through the customs declaration point :)

Is it ok to go Sydney/Mel without driving?

Sydney and Melbourne: yep, you can get around fairly easily by public transport.

Anywhere outside Sydney and Melbourne: heck no. You can get the occasional guided tour to places like the Blue Mountains (hiking) and Yarra Valley (booze), but that's it.

I visited Sydney last june with my buddy. Should be very accessible by public transport. U can opt for the 1 week mymulti pass. I bought the zone 3 pass which cost AUD$63. Can travel unlimited. This includes travelling to Blue Mountain.

sydney seems to have more attractions, i'm going for my honeymoon there in june. plan 10 days is no joke, i find it hard to space out some of the spots, especially for blue mountains area..
