Planning to go there 9 days. Syd n melb city area cos not driving.. Shd I put syd more or melb more days?

Lived in Sydney for a few years, so naturally I am biased towards Sydney ;)
Lots to see in and around Sydney.
Can even spend entire 9 days in Sydney and NSW.
But really depends on what type of traveller you are.
Some are "touch and go". Just take an "I was there" photo and off they go.

sydney seems to have more attractions, i'm going for my honeymoon there in june. plan 10 days is no joke, i find it hard to space out some of the spots, especially for blue mountains area..

What are you into?
Good food, wines, hiking, photography, driving, etc?

yup agree. scoot always promo ..
sydney cheapest so far last year was 350+ ...
think now should be abt 400+ ... if good promo...

last year, their promo for melbourne fly nov to dec this year, is 350 with taxes by 747 ...

really so cheap? they tend to bluff people with their promos. i booked from 450 end up paying 540 per pax in the end after calculating all in. and its ridiculous that they charge a per pax sum just for using cc for billing, wtf sia...

haha you must wait for their cheapest promo ...
you have to gauge urself :)

yup, scoot promo fare must be paid with cc or vouchers ....
if you pay via cc , you have to pay 16 or 18 sgd per person cc fees...
unless u booking normal fares, then no need cc fees.
can use offline payment
but the fares is not worth lol ...

for 540, you should book british airways , they have promo last week 601 ...
not sure your dates have or not ;)

for me it would be sightseeing and hiking to see new views and stuff, plus try out new foods..

Blue Mountains is nice for hiking and camping.
It's near enough to civilization that you don't have to travel a great distance.
From Katoomba station, can hike maybe 5 or 6 hours into the valley, and then camp overnight. Generally great weather and awesome night sky.

Can consider Sydney-Katoomba-Lithgow-Bathurst-Orange for a trip of reasonably short distance, yet takes you across varied scenery, from city to highland to home of motorsport to Aussie outback.

I would advise you not to bring any food into Australia, to spare yourself the hassle of having to declare and explain everything.

Not too sure how to answer your 1st question, I'm afraid :)
What does your kid enjoy doing?

Maybe bring to the zoo? Plus beaches to play at.. as for your second qns, please dont bring in any meat produce including that.. my friend once had a hamburger in her bag which she finished on the flight to aussie, but was sniffed out by the dogs and qns by the customs. They are sharp and will protect their own environment rather strictly..

I will be heading to Sydney for 7 days in mid-May. Is there any area near the city where I can ski? I was also considering hiking in the vicinity of the blue mountain as mentioned by some on this thread. Is it too cold? I imagine I should be using Katoomba as a base since I have no intention of renting a car in Sydney. Any advice?

Nearest ski area is Snowy Mountains, about 4 hours drive away.
But there won't be any skiing in mid-May. Not yet cold enough ;)
Hiking is very nice around Blue Mtns. Katoomba is a good base.
Hard to predict temperature nowadays (the world has gone crazy). Possibly single digit at night, and high teens in the day? Best to check meteorological service updates closer to your travel date.

Can get the My Multi weekly ticket that covers Blue Mtns too. About $60+ for a week. Then when you're done at Blue Mtns, you can use it for train to Sydney.

Hi! Unfortunately I don't live there anymore... :s13:

I would love to share my itinerary but there nothing to share at the moment. Still busy with work. Haven't gotten my hands dirty with the planning yet. I'm heading to Sydney and Melbourne for a week each. Too bad I didn't provision enough time for Tasmania. Next time I guess!

Honestly, it is quite hard to share itineraries, coz everyone has different priorities for a holiday.
