Thought this would be helpful for folks syncing the 5S for the first time on iTunes.

Plugged the 5s to itunes and got the following error message:

"iTunes could not connect to the [device] because it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the [device] before it can be used with iTunes."

Apperently, the iPhone will lock itself after 6 failed attempts. Don't fret. This is what you do. At this point, do not plug in the phone anymore.

1. Make sure you update iTunes to 11.1. The older versions don't seem to work with iOS7.
2. Unplug the iPhone at the Lightning connector side. Leave the USB plugged in your PC.
3. Shutdown the iPhone.
4. While pressing and holding the HOME button, plug in the lightning cable.
5. Keep pressing the HOME button till you see the screen that says connect to iTunes.
6. The above error message will not appear anymore. From here, simply follow the steps.

*iTunes will also update the iPhone's OS to 7.01.
7. Restore your 5S with the latest backup.
8. Rock and roll!

Cheers! :s12:
