Synology Fan

HI All Gurus,

My Synology DS411+ii fans had been making noises.
The unit is working well.
A search on the Synology site shows the below

FAN 80*80*20_3

• Description: System Fan 80*80*20 mm
• EAN: 4711174729593
• UPC: 846504009596

However, i only manage to find the 80*80*20_2 online.

Anyone can guide me to where i can purchase the correct fan?

Bought a couple from Shoppee, size correct, but after install will be beeping away non stop.

Take the old fan out of the synology DS411+.

Go to Sim Lim shops selling parts. Go ask the shop owner, he'll probably know which one.

Take home, replace, that's it.

I had the same issue, same DS411+. Replaced it. Still got noise a bit, but after a few days or so, the noise suddenly just disappear.

You can actually relubricate the fan bearings, tutorials can be found on youtube. Done at your own risk of course but so long you don't over oil the fan the risk is low.

If you want to replace the fan you need to find the exact manufacturer/part of the fan itself (not the synology part no), for this you need to take the fan out and see who made it and the part number (usually its a sticker on the fan), you either need to find the exact fan model or least one that matches it's parameters Rpm, wattage, 4Pwm controls etc.

As Kamsani0 suggested can go Sim Lim and see if those stockist has one that matches yours

Maybe wanna consider open a Synology tix and see how much the fan will cost to buy direct.

After watching Youtube, I bought Singer Oil to lubricate.
Same results.

As far as I can remember, there was no beeping sound in my case. Just the noisy fan very irritating.

Maybe something got dislodge, If there are RAM modules, take it out, wipe off dust and put it again, and try.

By the way, the new fan working?

No No ... its the fan ...

Original fan ... noisy fan ..no beep

change to shoppee fan .. fan no noise ... error beeping ... log in say fan error

change back to original fan .. only fan noise, no beeping

Cant tell you what's wrong though.

THe fan I purchased are NOT original. Just those cheapos from the local computer parts shops.

The reason for the beep alarm after replacing with a non-original cpu fan is becos the orginal synology cpu fan use "Locked Rotor detect" (yellow cable) and not those normal fan that use "Fan speed sensor" (yellow cable)
If you are adventure enough can try this Rotor Lock Fan Hack
Else you can go Carousell and search for synology cpu fan cost around S$25.
