For DS1513+. it is a small upgrade from DS1512+.

I would prefer they use a newer CPU and is 4 LAN ports really necessary even in SMB?

Newer cpu with floating point, more ram 512gb DDR3.

Slightly faster search. Does not translate to higher read/write speed.

Nope, it's 256mb DDR2 for ds212j.

My bad, think there was some discrepancy back in IT Show some brochure showed 128mb but it's actually 256mb. I tot It was 256 vs 512.
