System auto restart

Hi,

I have an issue with my system, I have just change the casing to Phanteks P300, previously I am using Corsair Air 240. Spec on the right side, has 2 exhaust fan, one back, one top and front is Corsair AIO in Pull config.

After changing the case, the system will auto restart itself without any bsod during gaming (Dota 2). No issue if not gaming. Had remove all OC.

Tried stress test with both FurMark and prime95 together at the same time, the system will restart. If only either one of the test, the system will not restart.

The image below is with aircon on, so far stable after an hour, if without, the temp for both the CPU and GPU will be around 80 degree and the system will auto restart.
On idle, the CPU temp around 32-36 and GPU around 44 (cold start), 50 (warm up)



So I could conclude that it is mainly due to the high temp of the GPU/CPU which cause the restart? Should not be an PSU issue right. Previous Air 240 has no such issue with the similar setting.

Will high flow fan helps? Or using a push config instead of a pull config?I would try to increase the fan curve to see if it helps also. Any suggestion is most welcome.

Maybe u can these solutions:

1. Give a good reapply of thermal paste and re-tighten the cooler.
2. Check if you have and loose psu cables that could be expo?(give a good tug to check it is loose or not)
3. Try isolating if its really the rams or GPU that is causing the issues.
4. Not possible but check if u have any stand off screw on it?

1. That's the first thing I tried.

3. Did a ram test, no issue. Maybe I try to stress test the GPU for a few more hours.
4. You mean the standoff screw between the board and case ? All is there except one that is on the most bottom right, there is no screw hole for the board to the case.

your gpu temps at 80 is when you are gaming? that seems okay.. might want to disconnect any other usb peripherals like usb wireless except your keyboard and mouse. Air240 casing is smaller compared to the Phanteks. you might want to check the connections on your psu, tighten all the connections.

Ya,when gaming. Only my kb,mouse and cloud 2 headset is connected and dual screen. I could recheck all the connections again.

No parts change except old aio I'm using push pull config, new one only pull as there is not enough space..but anyone's non blower 1080 idle at 50 degree?

Don't have, I wonder shld I just buy a new PSU to test it out.or later I try to down clock my gpu see how

Some update,after I remove the front cover and side tg, the temp of the GPU maintain at 75+- and no more auto restart after 2 games...seems like it is the high temp of the GPU that result in the auto restart

But did u use MSI/evga GPU software to tweak the fans setting? Maybe u can try to use the fan curve so that at which temp itincrease the speed to cool down the GPU.

When I look at the phanteks p300. Immediately I know the airflow is going to suffer. The tempered glass and the front panel are all close off and the front intake fan cannot draw in cool air from the front. Its completely close off. No mesh front for cool air no nothing.

Some suggestions if gpu is overheating due to temp or bad airflow from chassis.

1. Change your chassis to something with a better airflow like a mesh front panel like the fractal design meshify C.

2. Replace your gpu thermal paste. The thermal paste might be dried up hence the high temp causing it to auto restart.

3. Perhaps try to use a custom gpu fan curve maybe a more aggresive fan curve to prevent gpu temp from overheating and prevent auto restart.

try stress test with open case. if stil got issue then rma psu or gpu. they will stress test both on the spot.

I was using the Gigabyte Xtreme Engine, the fan curve was already quite steep, 40% fan speed at 50 degree all the way to 100% fan speed at 80 degree

Just gotten this case, was also deciding between p300 and Meshify C...

Anyone can share their GTX 1080 blower/Open Air idle temp and full load temp? Had some review from oversea on the temp but dont seem accurate, thus would like to know the temp in singapore weather

thats great to know! suspected the graphic card.. might want to change the thermal paste..
