System Problem - Graphics Card recommendation

Hi guys,

need some help here...recently...PC freeze for no reason...and took many many tries to get it to display...

when first power up, entire cpu power off itself like power cut, power up again in couple of secs...however...no display on screen at all.

I honestly do not know where the problem lies...called to sls shop and was advised high chance to be graphics card...

as such, looking to replace my graphics card...need help in recommending a simple, low cost one...as this com is mainly for web surfing, watching of 720p and recording of tv programs etc...

current specs as follows:
Intel C2D E7400
Asus P5Q SE Plus
Powercolor HD4730 512mb (requires 2 x 6 pin)
Kingston HyperX 4gb Kit
Andyson 550 PSU (i think)

P.S was told can consider GT 610 cheap at PC themes...please advice me as i am intending to settle this off tomorrow..

1. do u have any spare gfx to try?
2. when u said cpu power off by itself do u mean the whole computer no power? that could also mean your psu may have fail on you liao.
3. try to remove ur kit ram and put one in and test.

Strongly suggest that you nail down the problem first before buying any new component. Get some part from elsewhere to troubleshoot first.

power cut off nothing to do with gfx card..
no display 1. gfx 2. monitor.
last of all.. worst case.. your MB....

if u wan to change gfx.. better go 2nd market place.. cheap and good..

i realise this...when the power auto cuts...and reboots itself....CPU seems to be running...just no visual to monitor...

monitor is confirm working cos i'm running another CPU on switch

When finally can boot into windows....somehow later would just freeze....and this graphics card uses 2 x 6 pin...seems to be eating loads of power...

that's why i thought to get another value bucks graphics card to replace and see if really my guess is right...

anyone can recommend something good enough for such general use?

u can consider getting those graphics card that doesn't need extra power from pci-e connector since u are just using for general usage.
