I am considering to use Ta-Q-Bin to send my big luggage over from my hotel in Osaka to Shinjuku.

Sending Luggage from/to Hotels | YAMATO TRANSPORT CO., LTD.

As I have never used it before, it is quite safe?

I suppose that I have to send my luggage to the nearest Ta-Q-Bin counter 1 day before my arrival date in Shinjuku is it?

Also, do they have staff that can speak English?

Thanks first for any replies :)

Yes. It's safe and you need to pass to the counter one day beforehand. Depends which counter you go to or you can tell the hotel receptionist on the day you check in to help you. You will need to have the intended hotel address on hand so that they can fill in the despatch form

Hi serene,

Thanks for the reply!

You meant to say that I can ask the Osaka hotel receptionist to help me with sending the luggage?

Yup! But to be sure, drop a mail to the hotel in Osaka to see if they have the service as not all hotels are one of the pick up point.

Or rather, you can do so at Kansai airport. I'm sure the staff are more than willing to help and able to speak English.

Hihi, just for your information, I forwarded my luggage effortlessly this trip, I just fill up the form beforehand, and hand my luggage and form over to the hotel front desk. My luggage is bout 26 inches and it cost 1580 yen to fwd it to Tokyo from Okayama. It takes about 1 day to reach but it is alright by me since I took an overnight train and I dun want the hassle of dealing with luggages.

Luggage forwarding services are very reliable in Japan. I left my jacket at a hotel near Arashiyama before. I only realized that when I reached Kyoto station. I was lazy to go back to Arashiyama and asked the hotel to send the jacket over to the place I stayed at in Tokyo. I received it the following day. :)

Just an update.

I had just check with my hotel and they do not have Yamato TaQBin but they can help me send by Japan Post "Yu-pack".

Is it as reliable as Ta-Q-Bin too? :)

Never tried that company before but the other one tied up with JAL where I can accrue mileage points. As I was staying inan apartment and did not add the floor n unit number, the forwarder did not call me or the apartment recep. End up my luggage was not sent.
After calling up n clarified, it was delivered within an hour

Guess I will check out with the hotel on more info on Yu-Pack when I'm there and decide to use this or Ta-Q-Bin :)

Thanks serene and all!!

Yu Pack is run by Japan Post. I am sure they are just as reliable. I think most hotels have their own preferred courier service - either Ta-Q-Bin, Yu Pack or Sagawa Express.

Yup! I would think that the delivery service in Japan is really top notch and different hotels prolly have different courier services. You can get the form beforehand at the reception counter and fill up first.

Also, I left an item in my hotel in Okayama and the staff sent it by express deliver to my Tokyo accommodation and I received it the next day, cash on delivery. I enclosed some cash for payment at the front desk of my current hotel and explained the situation to them.

I am really impressed by their delivery standards in Japan!

Thanks for the assurances, kifo and zetsueix :)

I will send my luggage over then, save my time from towing it all over the train when I'm in Tokyo ><

But do take note that say, if you forward your luggage tdy, it will reach destination the next day, well, at least it was the case for mine from Okayama to Tokyo. So better pack a light day bag with necessities! And from what I understand, it is best to indicate your check-in date on the delivery date so that your receiving hotel can check for your check-in.
