Tablet Vs Hardcopy Notes for university

Hi Brothers and sisters,

So you guys prefer using tablet or printing Hardcopy notes?

If you choose tablet, then which brand and why?

I personally feel that tablet is a better choice

Pros
-Eco Friendly
-long term investment ( 3 years worth of notes is in the tablet and u can even use it after you graduate)
-Light
-Easier to organize
-Able to study anywhere and anytime ( Does not need a table to write)

Cons
- might not be able to adapt to sudden change ( Had been using paper/pencil and pen for the past 20 years)
-Another form of distraction

Need more advise from all seniors before committed with my hard earned money.

Im starting UOL banking and finance in AUG. So tablet would be better for note taking and non project works. Ideal for UOL student?

You already have the answer.

Just bring full scape paper along and pen will do.

Best if the tablet runs on Windows 8.1 with keyboard. (e.g. Asus T100. - T200 coming also)

I never print notes in uni. Total waste of paper. After one sem become junk liao.

most of the time, u will be holding on to ur phone camera and snap pictures of the notes. then refer to the picture and make ur own notes in whatever form suits u best.

always felt that nothing beats the handwritten touch of jotting down notes
can't replicate that with tablets

also its faster to flip to the page you need

tablet need to scroll page by page and zoom in/out
battery issue, ensure screen doesn't go into standby....etc

This is what im afraid also. I scare im unable to get used to using tablet

i still prefer having papers. When I'm revising and require 3 diff chapters, a formula sheet, a statistical table and rough paper, it's more convenient to have hard copies as I won't need to keep scrolling up and down or switching windows

Actually I looked into Samsung note 10.1 2014 edition. It can multi task ( Able to open 2 app side by side) but the problems are lag and expensive.

But they also have S-pen so can write down notes easily.

I feel that Ipad is more reliable

I make the best of both worlds. exam - hard copies because I need to read, understand, write and rewrite to commit theories to memory, and a screen just doesn't do it for me. but during lecture time, I use an ASUS Transformer book T100. The tablet part is detachable from the keyboard, which has a built in 500gb at the back(don't know how they managed to squeeze that in but they do) together with the tablet's 32gb. it's touch-screen, runs on windows 8.1(i don't even install anti-virus software on it and I haven't had any problems), handles note taking, web surfing, power points, word docs, videos, etc well without lag (obviously you can't game on it), and it's still small enough that I don't feel a drag to carry around. plus the battery is ridiculously long lasting as compared to a laptop with no overheating problems.

I personally tried both printed notes and an iPad in school lol. Still prefer printing out my notes although it's expensive to do so... But it allows me to refer back and cue my memory more effectively (with reference to the slides) than using iPad and jotting down my notes else where :/
