Hello,

I need some advise on travelling around Tainan. I am intending to stay at Tainan for 3D2N.

Will travel around Tainan on the first day myself via bus, my day in Tainan will start roughly at 2-3pm as I would have taken the HSR from Kaoh Shiung to Tainan, for day 1 intend to go to these places.

1) Hayashi department store
2) Tainan flower market

Day 2, is where I am having problems. I'm intending to visit Anping district, Anping treehouse, Qigu salt mountain and Qigu lagoon. I'm not sure if I should hire a private driver as I heard that public transport isn't the most reliable in Tainan. Therefore I would like to know.

1) Is there any recommended drivers I can hire for a day?
2) Is my day 2 itinerary sufficient to cover the entire day or am I over loading myself
3)Does my itinerary for day 2 make sense, travelling wise.
3) Should I stick to flagging down taxi's instead of hiring private drivers, I would like to spend more time at the actual site then spend time travelling.

Thank you for your help guys!

yah yah. take normal TRA train. less than 1 hr from kaohsiung stn to tainan stn. Tainan stn is located in the heart of tainan, unlike the HSR stn which is several train stn away.

The night markets can go at night, after 6pm.

Central tainan has many places of interests, most are within walking distance. Either read online blogs or get the map from the hotel where to go.

actually no need driver unless u want to venture out of tainan. the furthest touristy place from central tainan is 安平古堡. i took bus there and back.

i will also recommend 阿堂鹹粥. the fish porridge (teochew style) is very good and affordable. Go early in the morning.

Just came back from my trip. Kaohsuing to Tainan can use THSR, buy from Klook $5 only. Show the voucher to the ticketing counter, choose either reserved seating (if available) or free seating (you need to chiong and grab a seat). Seats are usually plentiful.

https://www.klook.com/activity/818-thsr-one-way-ticket-kaohsiung/

At Tainan, you can just take bus 88 or 99 (only on weekend). Goes to the locations you mentioned.

Can't say on the reliability for other routes, but these two are quite okay. Just make sure you catch hold of the timetable well (interval between bus is 60mins).

At Anping, the locations can be reached on foot. Within the city easy to cab around, outside city cab also difficult to flag down =.="

Thanks for the tips. So, if I buy from Klook. I would have to go to the counter to show the voucher? I won't be able to reserve a seat?

Did you by any chance go to Tai Chung ?
