I just came back from Taipei. Spent 1 week over there. I stayed this minsu and found it very clean and cheap accommodation (http://taipeichenhouse.blogspot.sg/). The nearest mrt station is song jiang nanjing, 3 stops to jia de, 4 stops to rao he nite market, 3 stops to ximen, 2 stops to taipei main station.

Around the hotel there are many food to eat. jap style steam boat from nt175. Buffet steam boat nt330, 永和豆浆, ru rou fan, MOS burger, 85度 C, etc.....Most of the banks around the vicinity. DBS, Citibank, BOT, Megabank...

I went to 礁溪. Took a coach bus from Taipei city hall to 礁溪 whole journey took about 30-40 mins via mountain tunnels, weekdays. nt90 for one way, around 15 mins frequency. There you can go their hot spring for nt150, men and women separate pools.

My local friend brought me to 南门市场 to buy dry food and 肉干, 肉纸... Its cheaper than Carrefour about nt20 per packet.
