Taipei hotel booking

Need some advice and tips from fellow gurus. Where do you usually book your accommodations? I have check agoda, hotel.com & expedia and rooms are so ex for period 17/12 - 22/12. Appreciate any kind advices. Thanks from a Taiwan newbie

Yup..unless to goes for those ulu and not much ppl would go one..if not, most popular would have been booked within 1-2 weeks after release..

I tried to book a hotel, within 12 hr they release, no room liao

Take it as a interesting topic to learn, I think I just seach on time and direct from hotel to check which is cheaper... there is no shortcut, however if you book early I think can get some discount sometime.

yup, some hotels book by third party is cheaper.
for taiwan case, book direct sometimes is cheaper or abt the same price compared to booking from third party website

Which is the cheapest way based on on the assumption that NT$4700 = SD$197.50:

1. Direct booking in NT$4700 via PayPal - Any additional charges?
PP exchange rate higher than banks

2. Direct booking in NT$4700 via CC (Less than 1% of additional service charge due to the billing department is located overseas) - Any other charges?
As they say will convert to USD then back to SGD..Should still be lower than PP

3. Agoda booking in SGD$197.50 via CC (Less than 1% of additional service charge due to the billing department is located overseas)
This should be the best..

Yr dates a bit difficult to book cheap and good hotels now. Go agoda see first

have checked some hotels that is at xmd. their review some soso only ...

have stayed before itrip, not bad. they have bath tub and separate standing shower and also breakfast. location is behind amba

And also some hotels like Cityinn is 10%(If nv rem wrongly) deposit and the rest by CC or Cash during check-in. So you would benefit from the better physical currency rates..

yup, realize taiwan hotel usually those good ones get fully booked very fast maybe 2mths before departure date

Can try searching hotels in the songshan area. With the new songshan metro line, it is easier to get around.

Else you can avoid xmd area hotel, because is super expensive.
For example during my few trips taipei this year, xmd hotel is expensive during Fri to Sun. Hence we stayed at other hotels such as kdm, ezbookers, which is 30sec walk to train stations

Some of these hotels, either is big hotel but old, but just less than 15 rooms hotel but is new ... So there is good and bad

go for the more premium ones if u really want to travel that period, most 4-5 stars r still available albeit at a premium.

are there any good ones in the region of $50 - $100 near taipei main station? I used to stay at new stay inn but their price jumped to $170!
