Hello, Am going Taiwan in another 2 more weeks, 5 to 9 Aug. Any good driver recommendation? Planning to go Taichung, Yilan, Nantou. Any interesting places to recommend? Not been there for almost 2 years. Usually my friend and i will travel on my own but this time round wanted to engage a driver to go further. Thank You.
Just came back from my 5D4N Taiwan trip with my friend.
This is my first time engaging a private driver and I am so glad that We have found this tour guide contact, Shi San (fb.me/bestoftaiwantour) in one of the forum post and Trip Advisor. Was deciding between “Best of Taiwan Tour” wechatID love520530527 or another private driver “ah chang” contact wechat u0935910677.
Both quoted the same price NT6000/day. But after communicating with both drivers, I found out that “Best of Taiwan Tour” actually covered their passengers with personal insurance – NT5,000,000 travel and NT200,000 medical for individuals. Accordingly to Wendy, whom I talked to, using FB private message, this high coverage is rare to have and only top tour agency has this coverage. Most of the drivers I checked only cover insurance for their cars. This is a plus point as insurance nowdays is a very important aspect although we did buy my own travel insurance. This shows that they value passenger safety.
Other than that, they are offering us unlimited tour time (vs 11 hours for Ah chang). Meaning we can wake up early in the morning to catch the sunrise, which is part of our plans and visiting the night markets. Most drivers I checked will never cover sunrise watching because they mention the driver got to rest. Our driver, Shi San did rest during the trip when we do not need him to follow us. With this unlimited tour time, we need not worry about time and need to rush back after each destination.
Shi San and Wendy help me in my itinerary planning including accommodation booking. Was reluctant to let them handle my accommodation in the first place but they mention it is better for them to do so just in case there is a change of itinerary due to weather or road condition. I can have a peace of mind while travelling and no need to worry about my stay.
Another point that impressed us was, we actually get to visit other attractions that are not planned in our itinerary. Money well spent. Not to mentioned, Shi San is very professional and knowledgeable. He takes good care of us. He has a team of drivers, so not to worry about their availability.
