Hi all!
Planning to visit Taiwan in mid-march next year with my family. total would be 5 pax.
I suppose the trip would be about 6-7days. Is it enough for the places of interest below? Might have more though :s13:

Some areas I decide to go so far include
1)Taipei (Ximending, Tamshui, shilin)
2) Taichung
3) Jiufen, shifen, yehliu geopark
4) Nantou (Sun moon lake, he huan montain, cingjing farm?)
5) Kenting

Very much appreciate if you could have some itinary guide for me because this is my first time planning a free and easy trip :D Thank you!

Do you know where these places you want to go are located? You want to spend all the time travelling from North to south and back?

I know its far apart that is why I am asking lol. and it is my first time planning a trip that's why I am here asking. I have only been to Taiwan when I was very young and with a group.

And I have seen others travelling to all the places before. So I also incl a question of whether 7 days is enough. Thanks.

Drop Kenting as it is too out of the way. If you remove Kenting from your list, the furthest you will be travelling will be to the Nantou area, which is still quite manageable.

Even then, I think your trip will be quite rushed because of the sheer number of attractions you are trying to squeeze into 6/7 days. It is doable but you will be rushing quite a bit.

Apart from that, what will be your mode of transport? If you are getting a driver or renting a car on your own, I think you might still be able to pull it off. If you are relying on public transport alone, it will be better to increase the duration of your trip to about 10 days in order to cover the attractions you have listed out.

Most probably will drop Kenting out already. Definitely will be considering getting a driver. But need to plan my itinerary to see which part I would need the driver?

Oh alright! sure. will add in Alishan for sight-seeing :)

Alishan is min also have to stay 1N..Reach early noon then can go Fenchihu, next morning go for sunrise then explore the main area..Should take 1/2 day or more..

CJ is definitely have to stay 1N(Go early in the morning, next morning book driver for Hehuanshan sunrise)...

In reality, SML is gonna take over 1/2 day at least...

Your 1 and 3 is gonna take up 1D each..

This is before factoring travelling time..

So should I take out sun moon lake? Because my family is ultimately aiming for Jiufen/shifen. I am thinking yehliu geopark is not that far away and can drop by.

for yeliu, jiufen, shifen is best to rent a cab 10hrs @ 3500ntd
else u might need at least 3hrs+ travelling time to jifen shifen from tms area
excluding waiting time

Skip sml then..

U can consider taking a bus from Taipei main station in the morning to go yehliu, after yehliu best to cab over to jiufen as the traveling time between this 2 is long..and then it depends on the time u reach ruifang from jiufen to take the train to shifen..

Alternatively just book a driver for the whole day..
