Taiwan Rail Pass

Anyone with experience with this pass. I'm seeking to travel as a family of 4 with this pass.

Interested in the 5-day pass.

I'm starting off with Taichung-Taitung. Then Taitung to Hualien. Then finally Hualien to Taipei on the 5th day.

I know I have to go to the station first to reserve the ticket before boarding. Can I get the pass first and then reserve all the tickets for all the segments above?

Surely you need to get the pass first then reserve those tickets.
Now the questions will be, are you travelling on a peak period?
Will there be enough seated tickets left when you are there?

Advise you not to head straight from taichung to taitung. Super far!

Tix for 4 for 5 days 7k.
You think it is worthy? I think just marginal.
I will just buy online and get more discount.

4hrs from Shanghai to Beijing take before already. So Taichung to Taitung shouldn't be an issue. Perhaps drop Taitung from the itinerary. Go straight to Hualien from Taichung by rail.

Certain routes u wan buy on the spot also no seats...Like TPE>Hualien and vice versa..

If single traveller, buy on the spot can la.
But if you are travelling with a companion, why do you want to pay the same price and be made to stand when there is no seats allocated for you?
