Taking Major PE in Year 3

I am currently in year 3 Mechanical engineering (design). I am wondering if i take the year 4 Major PEs now, will i get chopped badly?

Generally you won't. Many year 3s have taken major PEs. Workload for PEs are also usually not as heavy as regular ME cores. But of course there are ones that are damn hard and content heavy.
