It's been a while, anyone still playing?
For me I sought of quit, soon be clearing some of my ex-stuff.

Track wise, since I stay in the west.
I am still saving up $ to buy a proper track so those in west can race.
Other areas I can consider but at the moment funding for the track is
:s22:.

Already check with Stargek for track rental and their price is insane. :s22:
Few thousand dollar for track rental.
I rather fly to Japan and buy myself. :s13:

Lately I am got a Tamiya lap timer thus waiting for the funds to come in than will start a west side Tamiya club.
Or if I got trouble funding the track, I see any other alternatives or sponsor.

Oh my! which part of west? can u update me? I just bought a super xx chassis yesterday and wanna start this hobby again. nostalgic. haha. but im also newbie for modifications

Thanks for sharing.
Last time even my place, almost everywhere got track.
The track very simple to play.

And of cuz last time got the Audley brand, those are three wheel type
and they are insanely fast.
Audley seems like driven out of business already.

New gen want to play but like many mention.
Very few places got track.
Either:

- The one at Stargek but usually their track are configured very
hard to play. New racers especially kids can't really play
unless they spent $ to upgrade
So can new racers learn about this hobby?

- Few other places but those also not convenient

Is Stargek promoting Mini 4WD hobby I think not.
If you compare with like say Hong Kong, their approach
is different.

Why are they not promoting Mini 4WD, no one knows the exact reason.
Maybe the person in charge have particular objective in mind.
Which is to create a winning team for Singapore that is as far as I know.

Like soccer, you want to keep training your team for Fifa and etc.
That is my assumption of their objective for Mini 4WD hobby in SG.
You usually see familiar faces who are campaign Mini 4WD so do you
see new/fresh faces?

In my opinion, stargek don't really know how to promote. So many shops stopped selling tamiya 4wd mini. Last time popular and metro also have when it was still under tai sing. Now even at stargek the boss chase people out when it's not even closing time...

They should encourage neighbourhood shops that sell toys to put the cars and sets on consignment then rent them a track for free. Each shop will have a fixed feature track (long speed tracks, technical and climbs, 360 and curves) then every month competition with certificates or badges (like pokemon gym). You will start to see revival man...

May be stargek thinks they earn enough with the existing crowd already...

Same thoughts but for me I think they are more focus on competing
for Asia cup and Japan cup than focusing on promoting or growing
such hobby to mainstream.

FYI do you know the regulars that are into Mini 4WD hobby are only 1XX+
people only. If I am a boss, that is too small group and would want to grow or groom new racers.

I agree retailers like Kiddy Palace, Toy 'R' US should sell Tamiya Mini 4WD kits but they doubt sadly.
Yes Toy 'R' US the largest Toy retailer does not sell Mini 4WD at all unlike in the early days of Tai Sing.

Why? From my POV is:
- Only one track at Stargek only, other retailers if they want to setup their own track. They have buy the track which isn't cheap.
Let say three lane circuit is about $350.
Two lane is cheaper about $150 but not for people to compete in.
Their track rental is insane as I ask before. Few thousand for one day usage.

- Their track design have learning curve so not for beginners or kids who want to just build than race. Too heavy emphasis on modding than plug and play which is what Mini 4WD early days was about.

Pick up a kit, build, put in double AA batteries and enjoy that is the early days. Stargek one is build, than understand where need adjustment.
You need to build parts like damper and etc. to help aid the car to cope with Stargek track.
Sales tactic at play so kids maybe foul to buy more parts especially if they do not know how to cope.

For those into Mini 4WD, don't worry. Already in talks with community centre, let me see whether Mini 4WD can be push as a community activities. :)

I will teach all aspects of Mini 4WD, history, painting/deco the Mini 4WD (Which no one does). Follow by racing with stock parts from kits in a super long and simple track. (No jumps, no wave, no turns and etc.)

Than followed by teach how to upgrade the car while the super speed track changes into super technical. (Jumps, wave)
Step by step guide especially for beginners especially how to tune according to certain track obstacles like jumps.

Will share if this plan is green light but to be honest if given a choice I won't want to work with Stargek for this. Maybe I ask another retailer to help me with.

Cheers. :)

I remember going to one at tiong bahru but via another lift lobby before the renovation. Anyone have any idea if the shop is still there?
Suntec has one similar shop(shop that sells diy kits)right?

You guys know where is the best place to find parts such as motors and magnets for the motors? Better if they also sell 3rd party items.
