Hi is there possible to hail a taxi that goes by meter? my previous 2 trips when i flag them down they always quote me a flat price and not very cheap.

if cab dont go by meter, then you may wish to get another one ... from my experience, 80% pink taxi wont go by meter ... thought some still did ...
for green yellow taxi, 70% would go by meter ... ultimately still have to base on where u are at , if u r at siam paragon, high chance 95% wont go by meter if u getting one in the evening ...

What’s the cost of the taxi in Bangkok for example 10 mins ride without much jam? I believe for short trip it’s much cheaper to hail a meter taxi than grab yea? Thanks

i have taken from pratunam to chinatown , at around 12+ local time ...
slight jam, 15min is about 70+ b only ...

grab may not be worth, if ur taxi goes by meter ...
for example, if i take taxi no jam from novotel pleonchit to emporium in the morning, 11+am slight jam ... 10min, is about 60b ... if i taking grab, the price might be around 100+b ...

however, if u r in siam paragon or centralworld location in the evening , if you are going emporium area, most taxi would ask u for 200b ... if u take grab, the price might be 150 to 160b
grab usually would need to wait 20 to 30min if ur area is super jam ...

just ask for it, if not then dont take or unless you know that the price is reasonable.

like going some places by meter is around 100-150 baht. the person quote you 150 or 170, then you just take loh. not much difference also. unless you want to keep waiting.

if quote too much then keep waiting .

If you are staying at around central plaza rama 9 area, to hotels such as swissotel le concorde, grand mercure fortune, from survanburmi international airport to the hotel area, is about 220b excluding the toll charges and airport charges.

usually those that dun on meter the price is about double when using meter....like A to B meter is 100 without is 200

Have taken from siam paragon to hotels at sathorn area, 250b ...
took about 1hour ... because super jam ...

the other time took with meter, price was 150b+ for the long jam ...

if Tuk Tuk? Gf likes to take tuk tuk at least once during the trip. but i find it costly.

from big c to centrepoint pratunam/amari hotel?

last trip i took from chatuchak to amari 180baht but the driver dunno where amari is he made me alight at baiyoke sky and walk back. so i gave only 150baht n he did not object.

Tuk tuk normally ask for 200b on average ...
if u first time, u might wanna try ...
Baiyoke sky walk to amari watergate kinda far, about 7min walk ... if u many things on hand, might be quite troublesome ...

Taxi in airport usually is metered ...
however, some might quote you fixed price after knowing which hotel u stayed

in some instances, their meter might be adjusted ...
overall, they are generally fine ...

Kinda over priced. Usually from Suvarnabhumi to holiday inn area all in not even 500 baht. But also depends on your traffic.

that fare seems overcharged ...
normally should be about 400 to 450 including toll charges by meter to pratunam area ... your trip is about an hour ?
you travel by normal taxi or the bigger one , toyota innova ?

Normal taxi and the trip was rather short. I think it is about 30 mins. Traffic was quite smooth then.

then should be quite expensive ... normally to pratunam is about 25 to 35min.
should be about 400b to 450b max ...
